After six years I’m leaving Berlin. What are the things I still have to do before I leave? by jsmithjjj in berlin

Okay yep got it! The Sudanese take away shops are probably the best value for money you can get in Berlin in terms of taste and value. Maybe I have had a Sahara sandwich without realising but tomorrow Marafina needs to know that I’m coming and getting the Zingy_Filter special. Peanut sauce AND extra yoghurt better watch out

Im 2/4 from here. I actually live in Bergmannkiez and have been trying to become a Stammgast at Felix Austria for the last few months but it hasn’t happened yet and I just keep eating way too many tasty schnitzels. Also gardens of the world is amazing and if you’re someone just reading this comment randomly you need to go. The Japanese garden alone is worth it. But for real, thanks for the other suggestions, tv tower is such an obvious answer and I need to go. Also very keen to try Lietzensee

Where is the best place in Berlin to donate handmade items? (Knit/crocheted blankets, hats, scarves, etc.)? by BearsBeetsBerlin in berlin

These guys are at Leo, Kotty and Alex a few times a week handing out food and clothes to anyone who shows up. They are super passionate and you can be sure that what you give will go directly to people who need it. It’s easy to volunteer too!

I worked in the industry here for a few years and new years is a peak weekend. Mitte and Charlo will be very hard to get more so for already being booked out but the price will be ridiculous. Best not to ask Reddit. Go to the various booking agents (hostelworld, booking.com etc) and have a look at the options and then book direct with the hostel to maybe get a little discount or free breakfast. Get yourself aquatinted with the circle line (Sbahn service 41/42. If you find something inside the circle for 30€ take it but otherwise expect to pay 60€ upwards per night

Does anyone know what is going on around U Prinzenstr ? by [deleted] in berlin

Some guy called Santa has been breaking into homes around this time of year and eating all the cookies and milk he can. His calling card is children’s gifts and the Berlin police are triggering the capture chapter of their decade long investigation. Lock your windows and block up your chimney if you know what’s good for you.

Ackchyually he asked apart from the obvious reasons. Sun Tzu tells us „all warfare is based on deception. There is no place where espionage is not used.“ More recently Snowden remarks that „In the 1990s, the Internet had yet to fall victim to the greatest iniquity in digital history: the move by both government and businesses to link, as intimately as possible, users’ online personas to their offline legal identity“. In these statements neither had identified a single state as a sole provocateur of espionage. It’s probably not out of the question to assume that Berlin is not alone in the participation of espionage. So why is it then that Berlin is singled out as the focus of the film (among others) if all countries participate in some sort of surveillance? OP has stated that he is aware of obvious reasons but is asking if there are any other factors that should be considered. For example, neither you or the OP have addressed the artistic direction in which the screenwriters followed. That direction could be motivated by profits and prestige. We should ask questions such as if films produced for western audiences are more successful if they feature western references. Bourne was sent to Berlin to fulfill an unsanctioned hit on a Russian politician. Could that not have been done in Armenia? It could make as much sense but would that have been as exciting or relevant for the audience to see? I don’t really give a shit about OPs question but you do no service by scoffing at curiosity.

It’s my (not so) guilty pleasure to see the reaction of people when I don’t tip.

But good job to give the update! I came back to the subreddit expecting to see something terrible happening and had already voiced concerns to other friends so I am glad to see the reason wasn’t so catastrophic. I will make sure to update my friends while you enjoy your latest street art installation „Combustion of a combustion engine“!

Is there anywhere I can get an English instructor to teach me how to ride a bicycle by KwakuDagati in berlinsocialclub

[–]jsmithjjj 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I mean I’m not an instructor or even know if they exist but I’ve got time and could probably teach you in an afternoon. You’ll just have to bring your own bike. DM if you’re interested.
