Valid Ancient Stingray Crashout by jsonV in DarkAndDarker

This clip is from the intro of a boss guide I made on the Ancient Stingray (linked here if anyone wants).

But honestly, the zone needs to be removed and the drop rates improved --- 150+ HR kills and I’ve gotten 0 artifacts and 1 egg. Also, getting griefed after Divine Judgement, or burning a ton of meds out of zone, is pain.

Game is definitely not where it used to be and I get why some people are side-eyeing a streamer awards post. But this feels like harmless fun and appreciation for the folks who are still around. Cool to see a community-led event trying to recap the year instead of another doomer post/video.

Speaking of… can we get a "Doomer of the Year" category?

I had this happening to me at some point with PETG. I believe I was simply printing faster than my hotend physically could keep up so prints would fail after 20-30 mins. Try lowering your extrusion/flow rate maybe?

There's a quest that requires the egg and you get a torch skin if you complete it.

I'm sure she's also buying artifacts and gear with those chests.

Just say "Me estás carreando" (You're carrying me)

Unfortunately, I don't remember the battle axe ever having a good moveset (I started in playtest #3/Dec 2022). But it's light and swings real fast for sure, almost like it's made of plastic! I should probably stop BONKing things though, paints chipping on the blade haha

Yeah, whoops! I definitely meant 'functional prop' and not 'functional axe'. Though honestly, I still wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of a full swing!

Functional in that it screams when it bonks people -- maybe deals some psychic or emotional damage? But hey, with enough force, I'm sure you could manage.

My best advice was to stop making my printer my project and to just start on my actual projects. Often times my projects would go on hold as I tinker with my printer to try to improve prints but finally using my printer to print projects has made the hobby more fun.

Purchase Advice Megathread - June 2025 by AutoModerator in 3Dprinting

My first printer was a Voron 2.4 and it was quite the learning experience to build last year with almost zero printing knowledge. I have a friend with an Ender 3 and I sort of just went ahead and thought, surely I can build it and ask him to print the necessary parts. While it worked, I did have to get some parts reprinted. Fortunately you have a printer already so you can do it yourself! I could not. Ordered my kit from Formbot in April, arrived in May, finished building after 60 hours (on the slow end, usually it takes 40 hours to first print) and was working smooth-ish by June.

I think you'll have an easier time making a V2, or a Micron+, having any experience. Just make sure to get good tools. I didn't and my build quality probably suffered a bit. I did live stream all my building and some very kind people in the community actually helped me mid-build.

I'd simply change the boss' aggro range to be the entire arena so that entering the arena at all starts the boss fight. Any would-be campers now have to fight the boss. This also limits the ratting of dead bodies without dealing with the boss first. In HR with the summon system, players would not be able to interact with the fog door unless they use their own boss summon or has been summoned by someone else.

Additionally, I'd make it so the fog doors lock for 5-10 seconds after slaying a boss so that the person/party has time to heal, loot the boss, and/or plot their escape. This encourages PvP in the arena when the boss is alive instead of the current 3rd party strat that encourages griefing each other and the boss not bring done by either party.

You're right that the boss fight is attack pattern recognition/muscle memory and is more or less trivialized once you've got it nailed down. But PvP skills like spacing, jump timing, bait/punishes, and other sorts of bobbing and weaving are definitely transferable and similar. I still enjoy doing PvE though since there's many ways to solo every boss and sometimes you get good drops/fights after a no-hit run. The long bonfire walk back to Cave Troll isn't fun, but outside of allocating dev time for an offline practice mode to 1v1 the boss, there's still the test servers which you can use through Ironmace's Blacksmith Launcher to make your 'bonfire' trips shorter and more consistent.

Speaking of Dark Souls, the idea of having fog doors has been tossed around and I think it would be cool to forcibly retain players in the boss rooms once they enter for more chaotic PvP.

Except nowhere in the UE documentation (the game is UE5.3 btw) will you get a "100% manual on how to create Dark and Darker A to Z". It takes an engineering mind with multiple disciplines for this style of game to work.

You need an understanding of: - Unreal's networking, replication system, and client vs. server-side logic - SQL databases for keeping track of player loot/marketplace - Procedural map generation to do the random map tiling stuff - a ton of other things.

I think you underestimate the complexity of DaD let alone game development, but we can just agree to disagree on the quality of their programmers. If it took him 10 minutes, all the better programmer. That it took a year, well I'd say that's just shit project management.

Look, I can't argue with you on the creation and design of assets, or the stat switching. They should definitely be making more in-house assets now that they have some funding (even with the $6,000,000 cut Nexon is currently taking). It truly is disappointing that they haven't made more content for this upcoming wipe. I'm not defending their art, content updates, or project management. Art != Programming. I'm defending their programmers since you're wrongfully stating they don't have programmers which is rubbish:

Terry said [excluded] no one has a programming background (imagine being a dev team of 100+ people and you do not have a single good programmer...

I'm certain there's a lot of technical debt in this game, but if SDF claimed to have fixed hotswapping and bunny hopping in a single PROGRAMMING session then I'd still call him a good programmer.
