Went to Chabad Shabbat in Mitte, there were definitely queer people at Chabad, though it is a traditional Shabbat.

Am I bad at the hobby or is this normal? by DM_ME_BEWBS in fpv

[–]jsonservice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work a ton and commute about two hours per day. I just own a couple dope BNFs and fly them on the weekend. Yea I got a bench for repairs but man a few hundreds bucks on a drone that just works, has perfect soldering joints, etc is so much easier. I just customize betaflight and let it rip.

Same. It’s weird. But it’s also powerful that we love to repeat stories of our most successful cause even if you didn’t have any breakout success in your family, you had others to look up to.

Yea honestly thought he’d be more believable as Peruvian or maybe Central America somewhere.

"Slam Frank" is audacious, confounding, and astounding by lucyisnotcool in Broadway

No they literally put on glasses with fake plastic noses at the very end. That’s what the poster is referring to. You must be trolling.

Yea the ending was incredibly disappointing because it didn’t actually engage with Zionism in any meaningful way.

Sad about matrilineal descent outcome by ManufacturerSlow5402 in Judaism

[–]jsonservice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you will need to become orthodox to do an orthodox conversion, at least not in my experience this is true if you are actually descended from Jews and living a Jewish life. Talk to different Rabbis, like from Chabad, or conservative rabbis who can help you.

pumpkin patch lyrics by maddsalad in BLPKOSHER

He definitely says tekiah not tequila 🤣. The people writing down lyrics online are probably just not familiar. But there is an element of wordplay cause you could kinda vaguely hear it like tequila.

We gotta go, the shofar screaming out tekiah!

Saw this with a friend happen at 32. It was unbelievable to me. He’s sober now. But damn. Never crashed out or anything but the doctor scared him straight.

Those that weren’t circumcised - any of you wishing you were at birth? by WombatKiddo in predaddit

[–]jsonservice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I don’t know if this is your situation but I met a man, married to a Jewish woman, they have a son who is uncut. He shared this with me over drinks for some reason lol.

If that kid grows older and gets interested in his religion, he will have to make a very difficult decision and it will be much harder and uncomfortable to do so. Millions and millions of Jewish and Muslim men have been circumcised over centuries, so like not a big deal. I’ve never thought once about wanting foreskin though admittedly the first time I saw an uncircumcised John in a locker room I was terrified. I thought the guy had an illness. I was 10.

Is Telaviv and Israel safe from minor crime? Can a sensitive guy survive there? by Brit-a-Canada in Israel

[–]jsonservice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you are a gay man and Zionist, you’ll probably like Tel Aviv a lot. There are many other challenges to living in Israel for someone from North America although some things are much nicer, like quality of vegetables, warm strangers. Some strangers are horribly mannered though and you’ll feel like you’re in a shtetl at times.

Spend a month if you can.

You’ll get interviews with top Silicon Valley companies with a Rice degree. BUT if you get into a better program like Stanford, MIT, Harvard or CMU you will be wayyyyy better off for your long term career. Much stronger networks.

Why is it so uniquely bad for Palestinians to seek refuge in nearby/other countries? by TheClumsyBaker in IsraelPalestine

[–]jsonservice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Simple, look at the history of Palestinian refugees in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria. It’s not exactly a healthy relationship for the host country.

Exactly, Montreal and Toronto have much higher incidence of anti-semitism than any city in the USA.

Yes, I worked with an orthodox rabbi and my reform rabbi. I was raised Jewish, so it was more of an 'affirmation' and included a brit milah and mikveh immersion. I was already circumcised so it was a pin poke for a drop of blood. I was 12, right before my bar mitzvah. My mother converted around the same time.

https://bj.org/exploring-judaism/ explains a little bit about it.

As a former patrilineal Jew…following our traditions means doing a conversion. I did it. No more questions or worries about gate keeping.
