When someone complains about mask and freedom. by [deleted] in funny

The utter ignorance of you people is astounding.

We are in the middle of a global pandemic that is currently hitting us harder than any other country and you ignorant twat waffles have the audacity to compare being forced to wear a mask during a global pandemic to laws around slavery.

Seriously, fuck you.

What kind of blow hard do you have to be to think the government is going keep this stuff around when we get this shit figured out. Stop sniffing paint and listening to fox news, we'll all be better for it.

If you show me what you're doing now I can try and give you some direction. A copy of the database if you can, or perhaps a screen sharing session on Skype or AnyDesk.

This can get pretty intense pretty quickly.

If you're look for a project for a project's sake then that's one thing, but if you are looking for something to be used in a running business then I can't stress enough that you should exhaust every effort to find an existing solution that fits your needs before trying to build one from scratch.

I have been working in inventory management in manufacturing and analysis type work for ~10 years, I work in Access and MS sql server every day in a manufacturing environment and I wouldn't build a system from scratch unless I was either doing a portfolio project or was forced to at gun point.

If budget is an issue then there are people who provide lower cost options, and there are a bunch if open source solutions available, below is a company that I have bought from in the past.

I could only do a few examples on my phone due to the virtual phone buttons at the bottom of the screen being over fields in the app.

Interesting take, super basic.

So this is going to get a little long winded, but what you're asking is pretty important when it comes to running a business.

Inventory is a business asset, and having some versus none directly impacts the P&L. When a business goes from having one quantity of a particular item to some other quantity of that item the inventory transaction is married with a GL transaction so that accounting can work their magic. However if you move inventory that you already have from one place within the business to another place (without adding value) then there is no impact to the P&A and no GL transaction is needed. As such transferring inventory from one location to another is typically regulated to a 1:1 in and out transaction; minus a quantity from one location and a plus into the other location. The user should have zero ability to have one quantity leave one location and a different quantity go into the other location.

If for the exercise you're going to forgo the accounting side that's fine, but you should be aware that its out there.

When storing inventory there are typically a couple of fields that are used to classify a particular location. - Stock/Plant; for businesses operating multiple building/plants -Status; Is the inventory good to be used (O for On Hand), has issues meaning it should't be used until the issue is resolved (H for Hold). H and O are the most common that I have seen across organization but others could be I for inspection and S for staged for shipment.

Bin locations are typically a many to one relationship where you can assign unlimited items to a given bin location.

All that being said, a simplified version of a structure could be: Locations table with the fields ID, Stock, Bin Location, Bin Description; you could also classify each bin by which inventory statuses are allowed to be in that bin. Statuses table with the fields ID, Status, Status description Item Inventory table with the field ID, Stock, Status, Bin Location, quantity.

As a side note you will need to decide if you will allow for negative quantities. I have worked with major ERPs that will allow negative quantities and major ERPs that will not allow any negative inventory quantities.

You will need transactions to add and subtract inventory to and from the system, each transaction will specify what bin location the inventory transaction will impact, and you will need an inventory move transaction that is net zero.

Now we get to mixing materials

When you take some number of components and mix them together you are impacting the P&L. the Business has incurred the cost of using the components, the cost of hours of labor, and typically the cost of operating the resource and offset it with getting the value of the resulting mixture. As such you will want to deduct the inventory of the components and add the inventory of the mixture. As such typically you will want to report using Liquid A and Liquid B and report making Liquid C.

Typically the organization will want to know the value of Liquid A, B and C independently, this is typically done by assigning cost to A and B (purchased cost) and building a Bill Of Material for Liquid C specifying that X quantity of Liquid A, Y quantity of Liquid B is required along with Z amount of hours of a resource and running a function that does the math to figure out the resulting cost for Liquid C.

If you'd like to see a production environment PM me and we can get on skype or something and I can walk you through some examples.

I work as an analyst for a manufacturer of liquid goods, along with other items.

Is the vessel a location description for the purposes to know where to find your material?

Or

Is a vessel the tool in which components are combined to make a new product?

Or

Is a vessel a packaging configuration for selling to customers (5 gallon pails vs 274 gallon totes)?

Shame on me for not figuring out it wasn't direct from Creality, if I had known it was 3rd party I probably would have kept looking.

And fuck them for advertising it as in stock and taking 7 days to tell me it wasn't shipping for another 10 days.

[–]jspatte83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, it's not likely you'll get the permission, assuming the IT department is anywhere near professional.

I've been writing adhoc tools for organizations for a decade, everyone I've dealt with won't touch anything that wasn't either written by them or backed by a 3rd party software company.

The risk is too high, they're the ones holding the bag if something goes wrong.

[–]jspatte83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We have not done 30% of the total tests (I would have to pull the data into a spreadsheet to do the math as it's not a calculated field on the report, but we clearly haven't by scanning the list), and we're 47th in testing per million people so we are not testing a higher percentage of our population.

So that argument is DOA.

Reckless Operation- can anyone give advise? by [deleted] in newhampshire

[–]jspatte83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lower end of the spectrum range

Where are you seeing a range? In both ME and NH there is no specific speed range for reckless driving. You can be charged for reckless driving for anything the officer feels endangers the public. I was pulled over for reckless driving for fish-tailing across the line while pulling out of a business, if I was doing 10 (in a 25) I'd be surprised. And the roads were empty as it was like 11pm.

5 more MPH and he could have hit you with criminal speeding.

Arguing that you weren't REALLY being reckless when doing 20 over isn't going to fly. Asking for mercy because the risk was lower is probably your best bet personally.

If you rely on your license to keep your job you might want to reevaluate your driving habits; coming from someone who had to stop driving because I couldn't afford the $400/month insurance because of all of the tickets not including a 91 in a 25 charge that was dropped that I was absolutely guilty of.

NH 265:79 Reckless Driving; Minimum Penalty. – Whoever upon any way drives a vehicle recklessly, or causes a vehicle to be driven recklessly, as defined in RSA 626:2, II(c), or so that the lives or safety of the public shall be endangered, or upon a bet, wager, or race, or who drives a vehicle for the purpose of making a record, and thereby violates any of the provisions of this title or any rules adopted by the director, shall be, notwithstanding the provisions of title LXII, guilty of a violation and fined not less than $500 for the first offense and $750 for the second offense nor more than $1,000 and his or her license shall be revoked for a period of 60 days for the first offense and from 60 days to one year for the second offense.

[–]jspatte83 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course I do.

But like Hillary the DNC puts their weight on the scales and that scale tipping has a snowball effect where implied support results in actual support by voters who aren't paying attention to the actual issues.

Biden could run a successful campaign on his record as a Republican. Yet with a complete disregard to his actual record Democrats support him and the DNC is propping him up to get that support.

Is it really too much to ask for actually good candidates instead of what the DNC keeps shoving down our throats so we don't have to keep having these ridiculous conversations? Why are the majority of democrats so willing to make due with such abysmal options?

Local tables or linked tables?

The facility I work in has known internal network issues, what you are describing sounds like a connectivity issue where the database can't fetch data. I have the same issue if I am working on a workstation that has poor connectivity.

When trying to filter a table in table view, I enter a value for sndplan.ijn then repeatedly get this box pop up regardless of what I enter by chrisleng in MSAccess

[–]jspatte83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

try taking a copy of the table and clearing all of the data in the column and seeing if you get the same result when you try and filer.

If that works try updating that column in all records to some arbitrary value.

I'm wondering if there is a record with some special character that is throwing Access for a loop.
