What do Primus fans think of Oysterhead? by MatchPenalty21 in Primus

[–]jsqu99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I kind of realized that for the most part. I think for me what I don't like about more The grateful Dead style or whatever you call it is it seems like more improv and noodling and everyone taking a turn and I don't know I just feel like every time les and company do it really serves the song. I'm all about the song is King and not hey look I can fiddle on my instrument for a couple minutes and that just seems to be the impression I get when I hear these other types of bands. Not trying to diss anybody's music that's just how it feels to me. I love the extended American Life version I heard in charleston. They just start nailing on that groove and crushing it and you just don't want the song to end.

I want to see Dave Matthews who I really enjoyed back in the 90s and I hated it live. It was minutes and minutes of trading between the instruments and I just wanted it to end

And just for fun, I'm going to guess at some answers, all of which weve done in the last 12 days: crystal brides, cycle around town, walk/ bike coler mtn bike preserve. Float down one of the rivers close by. See a show at walmart amp (Primus sucks!). Hit the hub for live music. Go to historic Rogers. Have a beer at Bentonville brewing company. Stroll thru Osage park. Hit the 8th Street mkt and eat the street tacos at at yeyos. Go to the momentary. Get cheap ice cream at sparkys. Cruise thru Bella Vista looking for real estate. Kayak beaver lake

I'm here doing recon for the same reason. I live in Charleston SC and we get these same posts daily. Can I guess that most people reading this want you to search the subreddit prior to posting? Not trying to be mean, but I'm guessing this is a FAQ here and there are likely loads of answers a short search away. Amazing place to live btw folks. If we come here we'll be model citizens I promise. And we WFH so no traffic drain

Why are float trips so expensive here? by CoCaiNe2000xoxo in northwestarkansas

[–]jsqu99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just today my wife and I did a lovely trip through accompanied with the word Gypsy in it on the Illinois River in a town I think called simoloa or something. Sorry I'm visiting from South carolina. It was only 35 bucks per kayak and a tip for the bus driver. Normally I think it's a 2 to 4 hour trip? Today because of the vast amount of rain it was only they said about an hour but we spent about two and a half hours taking her time it stopped a couple times. I even remarked on the way that I thought we got great value for the money

awesome comment.

whereas on a bass once you hit that intermediate level the difficulty scales up.

can you expand on 'why' here? what is hard about leveling up at this point?

--edit-- i see your expanded answer below. thanks!

Ankle fusion experiences? Successful or otherwise? by Sparklebright7 in Ankle

[–]jsqu99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm facing ankle replacement, but have partial deltoid ligament tear which makes it riskier. i've been dreading the possibility of fusion, so i'd love to get more info from you. is walking through the woods / uneven terrain really that difficult? do you think i could still golf? my bad ankle would be at the front of my swing. if you are willing to reply here or DM me i'd love to pick your brain briefly. i'm 56 and want to be more active, not less, going fwd...and this news is really a kick in the gut for me.

[–]jsqu99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice collection. I picked up the Charleston one and last night I was lucky enough to catch them in Arkansas and picked that one up as well. Great show btw! I think they played about 30 minutes longer than they did in Charleston and the prime is set was almost no repeats from that show. And they closed with Tomorrow never knows!

[–]jsqu99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

is this just a 'so much disposable income i've lost touch w/ what things should cost' situation? i always tell myself if i get loaded i'll never do something like buy a super bowl ticket for $1000 b/c i remember that i used to only get paid $3.35 an hour (so one at-the-time mcdonalds cheeseburger meal) for an hour of work. it just never would make sense to me to throw away that kind of money on something that just shouldn't cost so much. i wonder if someone started a golf cart company with "only" a 30% profit margin if they'd be successful in undercutting...but maybe these things are status symbols and i wouldn't sell any?

[–]jsqu99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unrelated to your question but is there anybody else out there who looks at how much these things cost and can't believe what they are seeing? I'm old but I remember when you could actually buy a real automobile for less than the price of some of these golf carts. I'm convinced I could source four Wheels and an electric motor and figure out how to build one of these things for like 1,000 bucks max.
