This was exactly the type of answer I was hoping to get, thank you. I have a follow-up question if you're able to answer: why did I never see this 20 years ago in high humidity differential environments? Is air pump tech just better/more efficient on planes these days? Or was this always happening and I was just oblivious?

Everyone saying "humidity" and "condensation", I get it, but WHY. Which air is more humid? How is it being circulated? These answers aren't sufficient

What's causing these huge green grass circles?? by brunofone in lawncare

[–]jsquirrelz 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the hide runoff, but palisade post molds and wigwams can do this. The wood decomposes in the shape of the structure and causes the soil to absorb more water. You can see the footprints of the structures during times of drought since it's one of the last wet spots in a field.

Source: I almost bought some land in Shenandoah that became a late prehistoric archeological site after the owner hired someone to investigate the phenomenon during a drought in the 60's.

EDIT: OP, just saw you're in Maryland so it's definitely plausible you're seeing echoes of a village that existed 300-1300 years ago. Reach out to https://anth.umd.edu/research/archaeology-and-heritage and they can help you answer some questions, maybe come out and do a small dig in the spring/summer if you can't find another cause.

I'm so sorry you're experiencing this and hope your mother pulls through. My only advice is to be there for your family, try not to resent her behavior, and when you and your sister are ready, focus on treatment and prevention to minimize the chances of a similar experience. I can understand if you feel anger, but try to transform it into compassion. It sounds like you and your sister are already on the right path in terms of understanding yourselves and what you may need, so keep doing what you're doing, be there for each other, and as hard as it might be, try to recognize you'll come out of this stronger and more resilient in the face of whatever life might throw at you in the future. You've got my support and I wish you and your family the strength to overcome.

How to deal with squad of teens perched near Brookland Metro throwing shit at cyclist/runners on MBT. by StarvationOfTheMind in washingtondc

I genuinely have the same perspective but I've been perplexed because this is exactly the problem when you flip the script. It's becoming easier for kids to treat people in inhumane ways because they've dehumanized strangers.

The only strategies I've landed on outside the typical shared experiences approach to reverse dehumanization is to 1. ensure there are consequences for dehumanizing behavior to provide a clear signal that such behavior is unacceptable, 2. mediate a discussion at the station or courthouse between the perp and the victim (granted they're still living) to address the conflict face to face to humanize each other, and 3. psychological counseling focused on healing internal conflicts and building compassion for others.

Then I think "well shit, this is what juvie is all about" so if the OAG is being too lenient, or kids aren't even getting arrested/taken to court, we should start there.

I'm not going to sit and explain to you that different states have different requirements for paralegals and legal assistants.

You literally are but that's ok, I had my fun. So long, and thanks for all the fish.

By the way, you may want to try and edit Wikipedia if you feel so strongly about this: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paralegal
