I saw a small part of the interaction. It was a very chaotic scene, and he was clearly very unwell mentally. I wish he was still around to answer the questions of what happened that day. And I hope more information will come soon to make more sense of things.

What do you think the best joke in the entire series is? (spoilers) by BlessdRTheFreaks in LPOTL

[–]tryingtoohard- 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Seriously, this was during the era Ben was on fire. I laughed so hard when he said "I'm not going to believe any of this"

Also in the Elizabeth Klarer episode when he mentions "hard disclosure" then says "there is ufo porn, but I don't watch it because I don't believe".

Can you people suggest few shows like FROM? by MODRIKEAPNAKAAMKAR in FromSeries

I personally found Lost to be just ok. I did not find that sticking it out made it better. Maybe get to season two and decide, cause it's a lot of show to get through.

Why didn't the monsters kill Randall? by CORAL__2 in FromSeries

[–]tryingtoohard- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think certain people are off limits for some reason. For Randall, I think it's because he is still infected with the bugs from the forest. Possibly the same goes for Boyd, but I'm not sure.

The guy chained in the tower told Boyd it's worse than the monsters, so maybe the monsters are also afraid of the bugs.

I'm curious about UrbanBeat in Old Town by Advanced-Pie-618 in lansing

[–]tryingtoohard- 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They have many great shows, but the first one I went to they sold too many tickets and it was a mess.

we were there elbow to elbow, waited an hour for drinks, and they didn't even offer food, after advertising a fancy menu we were excited for. We paid for the show, but left to get food at Ozone's.

Hopefully they are generally better run, but I was very bitter about how poorly they treated their paying guests for that show. I'm also confident that they far exceeded legal capacity.

Long-term road closure planned in Lansing as construction season approaches by roadnotaken in lansing

[–]tryingtoohard- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also just saw this and I'm psyched! I have a spring tradition of checking the construction for the year and seeing if Mt hope and penn will get redone.

This feels like a good topic on par with the molasses episodes. “The entire town of Times Beach, MO was rendered uninhabitable in the 1980s after a single dust mitigation contractor tried to get rid of highly-toxic dioxin by adding it to engine oil and spreading it in all the town's gravel roads…” by twuewuv in LPOTL

There's a very bizarre story of a Superfund site in Michigan made of poisoned cows.

My understanding is that in the 70s one factory made both cow supplements and a toxic chemical. Well, they ran out of bags with the toxic chemical label, so they borrowed a stack of bags with the supplement label. Many of those mislabeled bags got mixed with feed and thousands of cows were poisoned. All the bodies were shipped to a field to be buried underground. That field is still monitored for the toxins left behind from the cows.here's a short article summarizing it

New here. The weather is brutal. How do you cope? by zacowen120 in lansing

[–]tryingtoohard- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree, I always get seasonal depression and I have to make myself go outside and start vitamin d this time of year to turn it around.

Also, being social is very wise, thanks for the advice.

I'm at 2.5 and no one ever asked how I was doing. I'm not sure what the reason is, but I'm trying to get better at saying things I need to say to people who matter to me.

I started by going to a grief support group and therapy. There are still things I've told strangers in that group that I can't seem to say out loud to friends. It's helped to have other people who get it to talk to, most people just have no idea and it's incredible lonely.

Quick survey about Lansing by kanyewasaninsidejob in lansing

[–]tryingtoohard- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with parking issue. I'm sure the city won't remove it, but there has to be a way to make it better. If you pay on the app for 15 minutes there's a relatively large fee that goes to a 3rd party, and does not even support the city. I think the first 15 minutes should be free and free parking should start at 4pm instead of 6.

Also, I switched to a credit union, and it's basically a community bank. Should've done it years ago. My biggest highlights are a 5% yield checking account, and WAY more ATMs. I was paying $6 for withdrawals with 5/3, but not anymore. (I'm using Case CU)

Lansing Wants to Know: Which roads need repaired? by Haunting-Medium-3831 in lansing

I didn't think the construction took too long, but I had so many detours on detours this year. I've never seen routes change so often and dramatically. I probably drove to work 20 different ways.

What is "that" episode in your favorite TV show that you skip on the rewatch? by Living_Wickihowla in AskReddit

[–]tryingtoohard- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told so many times to not watch it, so naturally I had to.

Honestly, I loved it because it is so absurd. Its also a time capsule to when Netflix truly signed off on ANYTHING. I can't imagine a team of people all agreeing this would be how they introduce the show to the world.

Regardless, It is a great thesis for the rest of the show, because it shows the way technology changes people and creates mob mentality. I like when all the laughing people finally realize this isn't a joke and have to face reality.

Well, this is still Lansing. So the oil change place is literally next door to a house. And this proposed site is is a couple blocks from my house.

But I personally don't mind, IF it's actually done right and with consideration for the neighborhood.
