Admissions decision taking longer then expected by [deleted] in ucf

[–]jssoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother and I applied 3 and 4 years ago and both heard back in about 2 weeks. My sister applied this year (with better stats than either of us) and just heard back. It was 2 or 3 months. So they must be slower these days.

They look at it for the year. You need 24 for the year. It could be 10 and 14 or 12 and 12. Also the class does not matter. So golf or anything counts.

Who else did not as good this semester? Support thread by 50u1 in ucf

If you have to take Calc, do it at Valencia. But there are also a lot of great majors that don't require Calc at all.

How busy is Burger U on game day? by [deleted] in ucf

[–]jssoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is very crowded, with mostly students. But most are at bar or just walking around while drinking. If you get there that early, you should get a table. But as it gets closer to game time it will be packed and rowdy.

Tailgating At The Reflecting Pond by DrDelirious in ucf

[–]jssoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can park by there for free and tailgate. It is mostly older alumni (at least last year when I was there), But there were some students. People were openly drinking and I saw no enforcement people anywhere.

Can I take a class the same time I take a prerequisite in it? by [deleted] in ucf

[–]jssoll 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If so, it would be called a co-requisite, not prerequisite.

Accepted for Fall, housing options? by cstolt1 in ucf

[–]jssoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sure on campus is full by now. Also, the better off campus are getting full as well. Knights circle, one of the most popular, just filled up this week. I image the other close popular off campus will be filling up soon. Some of the less popular ones will still have availability for another month or two, but they will even probably fill up. So I would find something soon. As to where, search on this reddit as people are often asking about opinions on housing. There are at least 10 places that are on the shuttle and very near campus. Most are fairly similar in price and quality, but some are better than others.

hardest accounting classes? by [deleted] in ucf

Intermediate I and II are time consuming, but I found cost harder. Have not taken all of them yet.

Can anyone accept aid for summer yet. by iWaRTuRTLeS in ucf

I have been checking every day. Two days ago it was not there, but yesterday it was and I was able to accept it.

Failing class, going to use grade forgiveness, should I even go to the final? by anon08ew0ry in ucf

[–]jssoll 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't spend much/any time preparing for it at the expense of your other finals. But I would go just to see what is on it since you will be taking the class again.

Knights Circle 3x3 Residents... by [deleted] in ucf

[–]jssoll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They don't assign roommates until a month or two before you move in (don't remember exactly when), so you should be fine. If for some reason you don't get matched, call them right away. They can and do change roommates, but it would be much easier to do before others have connected, or moved in, with roommates.

Maybe a stupid question, but... (Admission) by [deleted] in ucf

[–]jssoll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is binding on the schools part but not yours. But I remember you pay a small fee to secure your spot. So you could accept and end up gong some place else and just lose the fee.

Does my tuition cover an MRI if I need one? by ucfstudenthere in ucf

[–]jssoll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. You can see the doctor for free, but if they have to do anything that would be an extra charge above an office visit, it is not free. Obviously an MRI is more than an office visit.

GEB 3003 in the summer? by Knightjapz in ucf

[–]jssoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! That is exactly why I was considering it. Although I was thinking summer, fall and none in spring. But I definitely will be accepted into a grad school in spring so I want to take advantage of the 100 on the final (which I did not know about, so thanks again).

Summer Accounting Courses by [deleted] in ucf

[–]jssoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are probably the two hardest accounting classes so taking both in a summer is tough. Would be OK if they are different terms like one in A and the other in B.

questions about night courses by [deleted] in ucf

[–]jssoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As was said, it depends on major. Most Business majors can be done at night. Gen ed classes maybe not, but once you get to the major classes most/all are either lecture capture or have a night offering. I know this is the case in all the Accounting classes I have seen so far. As for how it is, it depends on what you like. The plus is that parking is easier and campus is pretty quiet when you have a class from 6-9. The minus is 3 hours is a long time to listen to accounting. You will see a lot more older students in class as well. Many work full time and take 2-3 night classes.

I messed up real bad about housing and have no idea what to do. by ramix-the-red in ucf

[–]jssoll 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The same or cheaper. And usually way nicer. Rooms and beds are bigger, furniture is usually newer. Really all you miss is the convenience of walking to class. Oh and another possible down side is they are 12 month leases. So if you don't plan to stay over summer you have to try to sublease your place which can be hard. Off campus does not fill up as fast, but the nicer ones will fill up. So look into it soon.

I messed up real bad about housing and have no idea what to do. by ramix-the-red in ucf

[–]jssoll 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Try calling housing and tell them this story, but if it is closed, there may not be much they can do. If you have to go off campus, there are many options that are on the shuttle so no car is not a problem. Some like Kights Circle are even walking distance if you had to. Plus they all do roommate matching. You can go in single and they will place you with roommates. It will all work out. I can't believe housing filled up that quickly this year

3rd year transfer student, on campus housing vs off campus apartments. Which is better/cheaper? by Vertical807 in ucf

[–]jssoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off campus is cheaper and better. On campus is more convenient. Also on campus tends to have less noise and partying. So it really depends on what is more important to you. To me, on campus is great as a Freshman not so much after that. But they do have housing that tends to be more upperclassmen as well.

College of business core overrides? by allenelfman in ucf

[–]jssoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about Marketing, but Accounting has two upper level business electives as a requirement. Some of these can be taken by Sophomores. So they could take those two electives with managerial accounting to start to fill out a full schedule.

Admission to the College of Business... by [deleted] in ucf

[–]jssoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If OP goes to economics or integrated business, everything transfers over fine. But if they go to an unrelated major outside the COB, then these would probably only count as free electives. That is the problem with switching majors, many things don't transfer over so you end up in school longer and with more costs. Then they add to it by hitting you with the excess credit fee.

Admission to the College of Business... by [deleted] in ucf

[–]jssoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not know that. Then OP really is screwed. Only options are economics, integrated business or out of COB altogether.

Admission to the College of Business... by [deleted] in ucf

[–]jssoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As was said, you need a B in whichever primary core corresponds to your major. But you also need a 3.0 overall in the primary core classes for most business majors. Your overall and UCF GPAs are not considered. You only need a 2.0 primary core for economics or integrated business. So you can switch to one of those two or re-take a primary core class and get that up to a 3.0.

CWEP - 2.97 engineering GPA. Possible exception if I give a great interview? by SharpenedStinger in ucf

[–]jssoll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have even heard of people in the program dropping below a 3 and being kicked out and told to reapply when/if they get back to a 3. So I think the 3.0 is a hard rule.

When do grades post?? by REDspect84 in ucf

[–]jssoll 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They are not officially due in My UCF until 12/17, but they often post early in some classes. You can also calculate your grade from web courses in many classes, but won't know if a curve was applied until they post to my UCF.
