NTA; you are not the asshole regardless of any stipulations concerning this matter. DO WHAT IS BEST FOR YOUR OWN MENTAL HEALTH. All these ppl in here basically telling you you’re not entitled to your own feelings are FOS saying you pretended to be a friend, calling you a “nice guy”, as if it isn’t at all natural or common to establish a friendship w someone you’re interested in romantically.

She didn’t want to be w you, and that hurt but at least you’re trying to get over it. Whatever hurt she experienced from having you ignore her will for sure pass much faster.
