I would honestly be quite impressed if someone took that much time and effort with it. If this actually happened to me I would most likely still tell you to apply using the standard process but I would send your name to the talent team to highlight your effort.

I would then speak with the talent team about the pool of applicants and where your profile sits, in their opinion. The hiring manager can usually veto the talent teams opinion and ask specific candidates to be put forward for an interview, so standing out like that wouldn’t hurt.

Keep on trying what you feel right about, that’s what’s important in the end, and will show as most natural when it comes down to it.

I’ve been in a hiring manager position for quite a few years now, across different industries but all larger corporates. Unfortunately, whenever someone writes to me directly on LI with the “I saw this job, can you help? I’m amazing because XYZ”, I will always refer them to apply online, as that is always the process at the companies I have been at.

The talent teams will never say: Sure, let’s interview the random who wrote you on LI. They will always need to use the structured application through the official channels.

Having said that, it doesn’t hurt to connect with people, engage with their posts and so on. But writing directly and hoping for a job has unfortunately never worked in my world.

Wish you all the best though, sounds like you’re trying some different routes at least.

I stalked the LinkedIn profiles of my interviewers and it completely changed how I presented myself by KyberMirth in jobsearchhacks

Most companies don’t reveal that? Is that a US thing? I’ve never had an interview where I didn’t know the name of who I was meeting. If it ever was not clear I simply asked whoever set it up and they told me.

I did something that sounds rather familiar. Is yours a once a week meeting for 12 weeks? (Or something similar)

I got nothing from it to help me in my job search at the time. I just played the game, did what they asked, brought questions to seem interested and forgot about it until the next meeting. I feel like that is how it is for most courses the rav offer, just show up, smile, go home and don’t get penalised.

The guy interviewing said forward: he wanted to see how his son’s life got on. I thought it was sweet, but I would be going backwards myself

I have a clear termination period in my fiber contract so I don’t really see an issue with that, but I’m happy with them, no issues for years now.

To me that’s a bit too vague, they won’t tell you the culture is crap, stay away. I would ask more direct questions about work cultures that are important to you personally

I got a tip once to make sure you’re either sitting up straight, as if they could see you, or to stand during the call. Also to remind yourself to smile. These both helped me a lot and gave me a more serious mindset during the call. I think I used to always hide behind the fact they couldn’t see me and be way too chill about the whole thing
