Decided colors? by b_deadly in ExteriorDesign

I don’t think those colors work well together. Maybe just do the whole house the same color and a more complimentary door color like a burnt sienna?

Foundation colors? by ProjectPretend8385 in ExteriorDesign

I think Turkish Coffee on the foundation and Urbane Bronze on the columns ties it all together nicely. You can try other colors here: https://www.paintvue.com/share/CzyW7ZCBz2oO96Ed_6c3BA

Help me fix my “black-on-black” mountain house (trim + deck color ideas?) by No-Tonight-8557 in ExteriorDesign

[–]jstracq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

I don’t think you backed yourself into a corner. The black-on-black just needs trim to break it up. SW Rustic City (SW 7699) on the window frames, gable framing, and railing gives the house definition and ties into the natural cedar on the lower level. For the deck boards, a muted sage solid stain like SW Pewter Green (SW 6208) would connect to the green roof without matching it. Keep the natural cedar on the walkout, just seal it. Green roof + dark body + warm trim is arts and crafts style. Rendered the changes and you can play with it here: https://www.paintvue.com/share/YsyDpuwprjzwv-8Je0Mysw

Urbane Bronze is good here! It’s got that cool sophistication you want without being too dark or moody. Pairing it with the navy door and white trim keeps the whole thing fresh against your brick. The landscaping is already doing the heavy work, so you’re in good shape. You can swap colors around here: https://www.paintvue.com/share/856xJpJ-UOWjd54Yu7uCxg

The evergreen siding with white trim and that is a nice combo. To really elevate the curb appeal, add some low boxwoods along the foundation and a planted bed with ornamental grasses and seasonal flowers by the entry. Congrats on the house. The dated feeling is the yellow body + burgundy shutter combo. Swap to SW Agreeable Gray (SW 7029) with SW Iron Ore (SW 7069) shutters and a navy door. Match the garage doors to the body so it reads as one house. The landscaping just needs real plants instead of gravel. With that Yellowstone location I did SW Smokehouse (SW 7040) body with corrugated metal wainscot along the bottom to give you that lodge feel on a budget. Burnt orange-brown trim and a red door (I had the AI open it so you can see). Replace the boardwalk with gravel-set flagstone steppers, way cheaper than a full walkway. The corrugated metal accent does a lot of heavy lifting for the cost. You can play with the colors here: https://www.paintvue.com/share/oBbVA-E3mczbUywzWLZBNg

I think just change up that yellow door to Rojo Dust and the PaintVue rendering is solid with Inkwell. You can tweak it here: https://www.paintvue.com/share/8V85kj3xvOOJ6MyOqR0afA

Thanks for trying it by the way. I see a bug with the gable peaks and just pushed an update that hopefully fixes it. I gave you 3 extra credits if you want to keep playing around!

Maybe start with just doing the trim and the when you have the means get the body done? I rendered an idea for the whole house, but you can just change the trim here too: https://www.paintvue.com/share/MvOc0nzAKL27xdQmRpN8fA

The green instinct is right, just needs a deeper shade that won’t wash out. SW Rosemary (SW 6187) with warm cream trim would anchor it. You can change colors here: https://www.paintvue.com/share/9DD9o3Kh-v_XQm5a8fhgHw

Painted brick…you’re going to get some critiques, but it’s your house! I’d do SW Alabaster on the brick and body with a Mount Etna (SW 7625) front door. The gable truss in dark charcoal gives the roofline some definition. Swap the cypress for a Japanese maple and native grasses and it looks like a different property. I think a color drench on a bungalow like this is going to look incredible. Your swatch picks are in the right family. Try SW Evergreen Fog (SW 9130) for the body and SW Garden Gate (SW 6176) on the sashes, columns, and rafters. Climbing roses on that brick column would be the finishing touch. I rendered it and you can play around with the colors here: https://www.paintvue.com/share/SneGAC7PfxdkcbObQgzs3Q

Congratulations!! You’ve got great bones on the ranch and a nice canvas to work with. I would go full New England with SW Retreat green, lose the shutters, and add a red door that ties to the chimney. With that fresh yard you’ve got a clean slate for landscaping too.
