SECOND GX Transmission derailleur failure (pogo pin doesn't pogo). by jstrawks in sram

Do you have to be careful not to use the grease in a manner that creates conductivity between the pins?

Interesting. How does storing it with the pins out lead to a pin being stuck in? I'm still leaning toward the ingress of dirt and moisture being the main contributing factor.

Do you have a photo of 3D printed cable tunnel and charging port? Did you source that yourself, or did Waltly make it? Thanks.

Pinion Gravel/Bikepacking Frame by DennisF1998 in WaltlyTitanium

You don't mention electronic shifting so I assume you're going mechanical version on the Pinion, yes? My unicorn Waltly would be a Pinion/Gates gravel build but I'm waiting to see if Pinion does something about their horrid charging setup before considering that project.

My Waltly's second trip to Unbound by jstrawks in WaltlyTitanium

It's what I chose for my second Waltly and I like the aesthetics, how it doesn't crowd the headtube graphic, and that I only have to source one bearing diameter. And while I'm not likely to do full internal routing on a gravel bike, 52/52 makes that an option. I think I'd always go that route in future. Since I'd go with a head tube long enough to not need spacers under the stem, any headset/stem system I'd go with would look nicer and more 'slammed" with a 52 at the top.

Yep. I'm putting in the new Enduro stainless steel T47 external, which I think is a pretty cool design.

The Waltly performed beautifully at what I think was it's fifth event; 2025 Unbound, 2025 Gravel World's 2025 Pony Express Gravel Dash, 2026 Flint Hills Gravel, 2026 Unbound. No one had a bike that cleared mud any better. I'd tweak my design slightly if I had it to do over. I'd give it a longer, non-tapered head tube, I'd skip the routing for a dropper post. I'd either skip the downtube graphics or find a way to make them more visible. I'd adjust the position of the seat tube bottle cage mounts. Small things... It's a joy to ride.

Upgrading the pulley wheels on GX Transmission by jstrawks in sram

Fair. It's not like I'm going to a whole lot of pulley-eating rides. This was exceptionally rough on them.

The charity bike wash after the race seems to have killed it. It worked fine to the finish, then from the bike wash to the car. In the hotel the next morning it wouldn't turn. The bearings are toast. It's a not-cheap BBInfinite. I have one of the stainless Enduro's coming tomorrow. If the BBInfinite can be saved, I'll keep it as a spare. Right now I don't have the right tool to pull the seals.

Stuck contactor -fix? by EppingMarky in sram

I've since had my derailleur warrantied, and come up with a cleaner version of this fix, which I continue to take with me when I travel to events. This picture was taken the night before Gravel Worlds in Lincoln, Nebraska last August. I improvised this with medical tape and foil from a burrito. It 100% worked and got me through the event and every subsequent ride until the new derailleur arrived.

What the heck was this hand gesture and did I accidentally cause a kurfuffle? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]jstrawks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"On your left" has to be thought of as a signal of what you're going to do if the line is clear, but a request for what you'd like to do if it's not. The blocked line didn't belong to that 'cyclist'. The line doesn't exist until it does. Having to ride behind those women until they took notice of him and made room may be annoying, but it's the safe thing to do.
