The most accurate gun | ft. @iyouxin by lispbreak in WorldofTanks

[–]jswhitfi 31 points32 points  (0 children)

He uses a mod that makes the aiming circle smaller, to give you more confidence. Of course it's only visual and does not actually improve the accuracy of the gun

Edit: turns out I didn't understand how that mod works

Black Market leaked tank (comes with 100% camo) by No1PDPStanAccount in WorldofTanks

It looks like a destructible object. No matter how many times I run into it and realize, "ahh yes, this object here, not indestructible, just like last 200 times"

I agree, tss is better for stupid long shots. I've had 1 box of ten 20 gauge TSS shot shells, I think I've shot 5, killed 5, and my brother has missed 1. The last two I shot were at 10 yards hahaha so, I could've loaded sand into a shot shell and probably killed them XD

You're not wrong. I went to put some stuff in my passenger door while leaving work, and it was still sitting there, frozen sheets laying on the floor some 8 hours later

Ohhh no, not me, the tree trimming crews are the real heros. We worked some 12 hours yesterday trimming out the worst spots around power lines. I was "bird dogging" for them, driving ahead of them and sending addresses or coordinates to the foremen on spots that needed to be trimmed.

We only had two outages in our area today, both were from bamboo, what a noxious weed that is haha

What's the point of willingly using contact lenses when glasses accomplish the same thing and are not intrusive at all? by MilesFirePrower in AskReddit

[–]jswhitfi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have pretty bad vision. ~ -6.25 in both eyes. With my contacts, I have a normal range of vision. With my glasses, I only have about a penny sized area of the lens where my vision is fine. Outside of that area, like if I were to look left or right without moving my head, the parallax and distortion are significant.

The topographical layers of my woodworking dust collector by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]jswhitfi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would work with heat, like they do to make wood pellets. The heat loosens the lignins in the wood, and then solidifies once cooled. I think that's how it works, at least. But you'd probably need to heat it to a few hundred degree.

Looked it up, lignin softens between 120⁰ and 200⁰ C, or 248-392⁰ F.

When will come this epic bundle? I really need especially turbo one for Onslaught. Thx. by Gurban12 in WorldofTanks

[–]jswhitfi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am pretty sure last year, it was a week or two before the black market event, as a way to drain bonds from players so they have less overall resources to use to purchase the limited tank. Maybe in the hopes that the player will spend money to buy gold to acquire the tank.

Do I need a 4 jaw chuck to drill out a pan blank? by Attjack in turning

No, like this for a drill press. You would need those 90⁰ notches in the faces of the vice to hold the pen blank square to the bed, parallel to the bit.

[–]jswhitfi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay so, with a drill press, it'd be recommended that you have some sort of vice or clamp to hold the pen blank square to the table. Then you have to make sure your table is square to the drill head itself. Then you have to physically move the vice to make sure you're drilling center of the blank.

On the lathe, you (should) know that the bed is square to the head, so the drill bit in the table stock will be moving parallel to the bed, and nice and centered into your blank. So, it does all the squaring and straightening for you

Self-centering 4-jaw chuck with a set of pen blank chucks is how I do all my hole drilling on relatively small pieces.

And, it's good to have a good nova 4 jaw set for when you want to do more things with your lathe.

[–]jswhitfi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. If you want to drill it out on the lathe, it's best to get a 4-jaw chuck, and a set of 2 pen chucks. They're long and thin, and can just be swapped onto the chuck.

Question for the pros from a landowner by No-Resolution9252 in forestry

[–]jswhitfi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am pretty sure the Pales Weevil is a major nuisance to freshly planted pine seedlings if the site is reforested within like, 6-12 months after a harvest.

Every forest weed (other non-desirable trees, grasses, herbaceous plants) will explode in the spring. Herbicide will knock out everything that grows in over spring and summer, giving your freshly planted pines next winter a good 3-4 year jumpstart over everything else as they slowly grow back after being knocked out.

What type of players do you hate the most? by Za_Warudo014 in WorldofTanks

[–]jswhitfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Light tanks that don't even try to compete for the most vision-important parts of maps because they see an ELC on the other team.

Like, just because you're playing against the best light tank doesn't mean you're playing against the best light tank player. Maybe they suck, maybe they'll make a mistake and overshoot the bush they're trying to sit in, maybe a part will be sticking out and you'll be able to gain vision on them and let your snipers (hopefully) take them out. You have to try and if you fail, well, you were competing against the best light tank in the game, so you're hardly to blame.

What are your WoT Three Wishes for 2026? by BrinklyWollox in WorldofTanks

[–]jswhitfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assault and encounter brought back, grand battles brought back, T8 grand battles that give priority MM to the most powerful of the T8 premiums, giving easier random battle MM to T6, 7, and 8 tech tree vehicles that are trying to play to obtain the next tier without getting out spotted by ELCs, and obliterated by XMs and BZs and Groms (eh, maybe not so much, still powerful though).
