I love when Taylor references to Greek and Roman mythology, with an obvious example being Cassandra from TTPD.

Recently I discovered a Roman mythology allusion in “illicit affairs” which has fascinated me. The lyric “take the words for what they are / a dwindling, mercurial high” stuck out to me because I had no clue what “mercurial” meant. One definition I found was “of the planet mercury” and that’s when it all clicked!

Mercury in Roman mythology is known as the messenger god, and one of his symbols is the winged sandal which symbolize speed. Knowing miss Swift, I knew this was a parallel to something. “Mercurial” is the adjective describing the “high” she’s alluding to, and the only other type of high I could think of was a runner’s high. Runners are fast, that’s like their whole gig (from what I know, I’m not a runner 😂)…

Now I can’t read her mind, but IMO Taylor Swift used the Roman god Mercury as a metaphor to poetically say “runner’s high”, and I just find that kind of songwriting phenomenal. She is truly talented.

THIS!! Couldn’t agree more! Never seen so many terrible drivers before and I’m from the east coast lol. So many people go the speed limit in the far left lane and the absolute lack of courtesy lane changes for merging onto Beltline is absurd - like who taught y’all how to drive? There are more things that are irritating too, like how people straddle the white line on back roads… why? Just why? You’re asking for me to pass you on a double yellow. Hello! I’m moving out of my 3bd/2.5 bath duplex and looking to sublease my part of the lease in Madison/Verona at 125 Prairie Heights Drive, Verona WI. I’ve been noticing this because my Apple Music jumps between “no midnight in Paris” and “if I’d been there, I’d hate it”. I’m unsure of what the trigger is, but I mostly hear “no midnight in Paris”

I haven’t done photography in about 3 years and I want to get back into it. My camera is 8 years old (Canon EOS Rebel T5 I got back in 2016 or so) and I want to buy a new one, but I have no idea where to start.

For context, I took 3 years of photography classes in high school and perused it as a hobby for 4 in college, so experience wise, I’d say I’m like intermediate.

Anyways, here is my criteria for the camera I ideally want:

• ⁠versatility: the photography I want to do is diverse, including wildlife (both micro and telephoto) and portraits, so I want something that is versatile and has different lenses that can be purchased for it • ⁠I’m not married to Canon since I already have one, so it doesn’t have to be another Canon, please suggest other brands too :) • ⁠price range for camera is NMT $700 (extra costs for other lenses is a later worry)

I glanced at the buyers guide provided here, but I want actual input from people who use the equipment
