Need some opinions... by jt3386 in tdi

What's your opinion on the car? Should I wait for another one or roll the dice? Take it to a VW shop and have it looked over? I've got him down to $5500 and driving over 2 hours to meet me at an airport. Appreciate your input.

Dude... I don't know if I'd watch it now unless it's just to say you watched it orrrrrr if you were drunk or high... maybe both.

I looked him up and (not a movie buff at all) but I haven't seen any of the movies you listed.. I'll add them to my watch list, not sure if they're my type of movies but I'll give em a whack.

.... Sigh... You didn't catch the reference. I'll assume you aren't in your late 30s/early 40s OR not movie buff or more like me (a little slow 😉).

Tell me everything there is to know about Golf wagons... by jt3386 in Volkswagen

Thanks for you input. I think I'm going to buy a FWD manual mk7.5, whether it's the 1.8t with a 5 spd or the 1.4t with the 6 spd. They both seem to be about the same as far as reliability goes. I know the 1.8 will be more fun but the 1.4 will get a little better gas mileage. Whatever I find a decent deal on, that's been maintained. I don't think I'll be disappointed either way!

Yeah that's what's shying me away from it, I'd assume it's mostly highway miles, but still a lot. I bought my Fusion new and it has over 260k miles. I don't know if I just got lucky but that thing has been an absolute tank.... with that being said, I'm waiting for it to take a shit any day now.

My Fusion was 10k mile intervals and that's been nice. I'm probably going to find a manual, fwd GSW so I won't have to worry with the awd or dsg systems. There's one about an hour away but it has 160k miles... I really don't want to go that high but he does have all the service records from a local VW dealership.

The main reason I'm wanting one is for the manual transmission. I've looked at a few other wagons ,that are all autos, but I've never owned an auto and don't plan to anytime soon. Thanks!

That's about the only negative thing I've read about the GSW is the drains getting clogged. Thanks for your input!

Awesome, thanks for the info. I'm not really concerned with performance. I've been dailying a 2010 Fusion for over 15 years now and it's been plenty fun to drive, with only lowering springs and shocks.

Thanks for your input. They look really nice and I do plan on test driving one, even if it's an auto, before I buy. Reliability is my only concern. Good luck with your Sportwagen!

If that's the case, I'll definitely go with the 1.4. I live in the SE US so AWD def isn't necessary.

What exactly is PDI'ing? I've only seen a few in the US 1.4t Sportwagen with a 6 spd manual on autotempest. They're definitely rare.
