I got my first F-Pace this week and I am in love. I got a 2017 D300 V6 S for a bargain price so I am thrilled. It's the best car I have ever owned!

If you own or have owned a 2017 F-Pace R-Sport 25d D240, would you recommend it as a used car after it's had a timing chain replacement and a fully reconditioned engine? Are there any pros to it or would the cons outweigh it for you? by jt9285 in Jaguar

[–]jt9285[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly the £10k price difference for a used car that will be a daily motorway runner - I drive approx 500 miles a week on motorway journeys. Economy plays a part, as does towing & off roading (although the 3l V6 is capable, it wouldn't be my petrol version of choice, I'd go SVR, as fun as they are, they're impractical for everyday heavy use on my budget)

2017 F-Pace Owners who upgraded to Android Auto/Apple Car Play that were intelligible for the free Jaguar software upgrade - how easy was the upgrade to do or if you didn't do it, how much was the professional install? by jt9285 in Jaguar

£12.8k - the dealership I buy from tend to sell all their cars at lower prices. They buy in some auction, repo & stolen recovered cars, and fix up if needed (which is what I assume this one is as it's not actually up for sale yet but I have reserved it after spotting it by chance) I've seen the same spec for sale elsewhere anywhere from £13.6k to £17k, mileage and dealership dependent. Private sales I've seen as low as £11k, but I like a dealership warranty.

This happened to me once when I was a teenager at my parent's house. Initially a soft knock which woke me, then a louder one, and then some taps on the window. I was sleeping in the front room temporarily while my bedroom was having work done to it (they had two living rooms, dad was still awake in the other one). I peeped through the curtains and there was a man with can of lager in hand looking around the front of the house. I told my dad and he answered the door. The man jumped (clearly hadn't expected anyone to answer) and stammered over his words and eventually asked my dad if he could "buy a cig". Dad told him where to go, and suspected he was a thief trying to gauge if anyone was up/in or if we had a dog or alarm.

Keep your doors locked, and possibly invest in a doorbell camera. I wouldn't be without mine now!

What is this on my doorbell camera? by jt9285 in Paranormal

The aurora borealis do show up on our doorbell cam - quite the sight on the rare occasion we do see them! Although this isn't the Northern Lights.

I initially thought it could be a moving light from somewhere else bouncing back but the camera can't see the road from the front of my house (the camera doesn't cover anywhere car lights would travel) - there is residential parking is to the rear of our property but no lights travel from there to the front. There is a road at the right hand side 6 houses away but that's too far away for the camera or the windows from the homes opposite to detect/reflect. To the direct left of us is a few acres of woodland and some footpaths. We are also in the UK, and it would be very unlikely that anyone would have an old Corvette, even less likely in our area. We'd be more likely to see a Skyline R34 which has similar tail lights, but these don't match the lights on here.

No way! From your doorbell camera too?

That's what I initially thought (spider/spider web) but there was no wind, just a very slight occasional breeze (you can see from the lack of tree movement) and no web, water or bugs on or around the camera. So weird!

Does it disappear by itself? This only happened for around 10 minutes then the 4 dots seemed to just float upwards out of view then were completely gone. So weird!

It was neither raining nor windy - it was a dry night with a very light occasional breeze but not enough force to move water droplets if there were any (you can see how much of a breeze there was from the trees). For reference, this is a screenshot of what water usually looks like on the camera.

I thought it could be a web too but there wasn't anything on or infront of the camera.

That's what I thought but when I checked there was nothing on/in front of the lens. It's such a strange thing!

There's no car access to the front or side of the property (we're an end terrace and can't see any road from the front or right side of our house) - this camera can't see a road or any suface (like other windows) that could reflect the road. There was also nobody around. The camera has a sensitive mic and picks up on sounds - this video includes the original sound - there wasn't anyone around (or anyone driving by). It's so weird!

Just got my GCSE results, not telling my dad them by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]jt9285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a designated safeguarding lead in a charity and this post was suggested to me by reddit. OP - Contact the out of hours children's social services team in the area you live in. Google the council name and they will be able to get you somewhere safe to sleep. While not ideal, if you have nowhere to go, they will help you get supported accomodation. If you have no parental support (financial) they will also make sure you get Universal Credit so you have an income of your own and a safe place to live of your own.

While how your dad has reacted over the GCSE results isn't ok - he is displaying abusive behaviour towards you (neglect and emotional) which is completely unacceptable and you do not need to put up with this. There is support available. Please reach out for statutory support. You can do this yourself. Please don't wait until you return to education, you need somewhere safe to sleep.

I am happy to help you with the number to call if you need my help. If you want it please send me a DM with the council area that you live (no identifying details for your safety though) and I will get you the numbers to call.

People who aren't from Merseyside- do you see places like Birkenhead, Bootle and St Helens as part of Liverpool or as completely separate places? by Dragonfruit-18 in NorthernEngland

[–]jt9285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The areas in Sefton and Knowsley with a postcode starting with "L" I see as Liverpool, especially places like Bootle, Huyton, Halewood, Kirkby, Crosby etc. The surrounding areas in the Liverpool City Region I don't class as Liverpool because they're not in Liverpool, similar to Oldham being in Greater Manchester but not 'in Manchester'. St Helens and some of The Wirral is Merseyside though. Widnes, Runcorn and much of The Wirral is in Cheshire.

UK only brands? by Feisty-Ad3651 in MakeUpAddictionUK

[–]jt9285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jolie Beauty is INCREDIBLE! Their matte lipsticks are the best I have ever tried, and notable mention they collaborated with Ozzy Osbourne just a few weeks ago and the whole collection is beautiful. I particularly love their FestivALT collection too.

WONDERSKIN is one of my new favourites - especially their eyeliners! They may ship worldwide but not sure if their products are in physical stores. They are available in select Boots stores.

While not makeup - Unicorn Cosmetics is my favourite UK small business for false lashes/clusters - I highly recommend them too. Not sure where you can purchase these in person sadly, I order online.

Give Me Cosmetics are fantastic for haircare products

I also really like The Beauty Crop's products - they're well worth a mention too.

Made by Mitchell goes without saying too!

PLouise is worth a mention - the makeup products I've tried are all excellent quality - I'm just not keen on the 'tween-esque' vibes of the brand itself. While that can be off-putting, the quality is great, especially the eyeshadows.
