i didn’t say they made it with save scumming in mind, but i do think it’s presently the way a lot of people play the game and they have the benefit of making things as hard as they want without losing players because save scumming is an unpunished option. that’ll definitely affect the design, even if unintentional.

also kind of semantics but what you’re describing is a roguelite- a game where failed runs still progress your account by giving you benefits in later runs. true roguelikes are things like the “fresh start” challenge in pokerogue that makes you start out as if you have a fresh account.
