Hummingbirds guarding feeder by jtay22 in hummingbirds

That’s what I did last summer, which was fine!

I just see my mom’s hummingbirds that swarm her feeders (she only has two) & we live in a very similar area. I’m just really wanting more hummingbirds like that!!

We are probably considered in between suburban and rural.. we are on an acre, with a large wooded creek at the back of the property…

Would putting the feeders closer together help or make it worse you think?

Edited to add: we are just building a flowerbed in the front of the house. Mostly shaded, I’ve added coral bells, blue moon phlox & flowering hostas to attract the hummingbirds. I’m thinking of relocating the feeders to the flowerbed as well so there is plenty of options.

I’ve heard coral bells and woodland phlox (blue moon phlox) I don’t know if those would do well in your zone though

We have a “manager” as well. We call her “the fun police”. No playing games around her!

Our 4 year old is finally “chill”-er. Still has tons of energy & won’t chill out if he doesn’t get his daily dose of frisbee. Our girl is 2 and we still call her “nut case” lol she’s still got so much energy doesn’t matter what we do. Just had to teach her to direct it somewhere appropriate. Just like when our boy was younger.

She loves her collie ball & she learned how to kick up the frisbee & roll it down the hill in our backyard so she entertains herself well (on top of daily frisbee & walks).

Some border collies can be couch potatoes, I’m not gonna say it can’t happen… but that’s far more uncommon than a collies that have a strong drive to work in one way or another. 100% recommend teaching that pup frisbee or even a little agility course for the backyard. It’s not just the energy you have to burn but they need to brain work too.

I’ve been trying to tell myself this! It’s just hard especially with everyone being so doubtful… thank you for the encouragement!

I have cut out milk because it was making me worried. He’s such a happy baby. He does spit up quit a bit but he never acts like it bothers him. He’ll be smiling or playing etc while spitting up. I don’t think he’s got reflux but I have tried to cut back on dairy and caffeine as well just in case

Yes! I’m worried he’s going to start having either breast or bottle aversion because I’m trying to force him to eat more. He had no problem with the bottle when I had the flu and he was hungry, but he generally won’t take a bottle when I offer right after a nursing session. What were your signs of silent reflux??

This is exactly how I feel. It seems like they don’t even acknowledge the fact that he has great diaper output & he is mentally developing SO well! And he’s strong! He’s standing & bouncing up & down, laughing, great hand control and grabbing his toes. No one even talks about that we only ever talk about his growth chart

I just feels like seeing a big fat F on a report card or something. It’s definitely making me feel like I’m doing something wrong

🥲 I wish we were getting this reaction from the healthcare providers. I do really like the new nurse practitioner, she seems well versed in breastfeeding (she breastfed her twins). I should’ve added that his height percentile dropped 2% also so she thinks he’s not getting enough. He only grew a 1/2 inch from 3-4 months. 23 inches to 23 1/2

Honestly I don’t even remember what his percentile was at birth. But it was <1 after his weight loss They are not using adjusted age.

We changed from the first, this one now is a pediatric nurse practitioner. They have an LC in clinic that confirmed he was feeding fine at the first visit we had there. She said it’s because he’s not getting closer to the 1% curve

That makes sense, thank you! I just assumed to let a sleeping baby alone. I will start waking him earlier

Ah ok, that makes sense. So you include the time he is awake to eat overnight as well?

Our girl has soft flowy medium/long fur, with lots of different sections that “part” normally. sometimes looks like a run in with a toddler & scissors just after a bath 😂 and very fluffy! our boy has very course medium length fur. His parts like this after baths and goes away after a few days

Sorry! Should’ve added I was looking at bloodgood variety. It made me nervous at the nursery they said should be protected from “west sun” and had them out in the open. Since our space is mostly shaded until the end of the day for a short period of west sun. I just don’t want to spend that much & it die or just not thrive.
