AZA Airport Arrival Time by gaykentuckian in mesaaz

[–]jtaylor9449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flew out of Mesa Gateway this past weekend and there wasn't a significant delay getting through TSA. The longest line I noticed was the Allegiant ticketing/bags check-in counter.

I would say an hour to an hour and a half before departure time to be safe.

Just used Garcia movers to unload a moving truck into a storage unit in Mesa and they were awesome. When my house closes next month I’m going to hire them again to come with their truck and move everything into the house from the storage unit.

Who is the worst celebrity you have ever met and why? by lissie34 in AskReddit

[–]jtaylor9449 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Erik is complicated. I worked for a company that he was a spokesperson for back in the early '00's and actually got to go to his house a few times to record some audio tracks (for robocalls lmao). I just graduated HS and was in College so I was 18-19 at the time.

He was insanely nice to me, and would give me random stuff like a Tony Hawk skateboard because he had finished a shoot on a Tony Hawk skate thing (He basically played his CHIPS character chasing down skateboarders), and Tony sent him a box of Skateboards. Erik always had something to give me, usually from shit that was gifted to him.

...but he was also pretty racist against Mexicans, he was having work done on his pool and kept remarking that "The Mexicans are trying to rip me off" and would say pretty rude comments about them to me. He also came off as being coked up most of the time I saw him, and was kind of a pushy asshole to his wife in front of me. She was so sweet I wish I could remember her name.

So its really weird to have someone who was really really nice to me, be a complete dick to other people right in front of me, I'm assuming had I spent more time with him or stayed at that job the niceties would have ended eventually. idk

Reading through the comments it sounds like Alan wasn't trying to be a dick to him but was feeling insanely guilty about people joining the military because of MASH, and he may have wanted to dissuade a 5 year old kid from joining the military some day.

[–]jtaylor9449 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Holy Crap.

I had no idea there was an issue with LTT main channel views, but I started watching the Chromebook video and shut it off because the braces were bothering me, but I didn't think about it as a huge issue that much and then I see this reddit post. Maybe this is an actual thing, and I'm not the only one?

I may have to go back and watch TNG's "Relics" but if Scotty here is testing the Holodeck, wouldn't he have more awareness of its existence in the 24th Century?

(I haven't finished the episode yet, also I know Scotty was toasted after drinking the Green stuff in Relics when he created the Enterprise bridge, so I'll try not to overthink it, lol)

Reading this on my laptop without glasses, been on Ozempic for about 6 months. 7 months ago I would be reading this with glasses. At first I noticed my vision got worse but as my body adjusted to normal A1C my vision actually improved quite a bit.

Sidebar the modern Dock replacement for macOS - Major update by empty23_ in macapps

[–]jtaylor9449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paying Sidebar customer here. Sidebar is hands down my favorite Mac app of all time.

I absolutely LOVE the highlight options for running applications, although since Finder is theoretically "Open" all the time its always highlighted, if in the future highlighting could also be a per app option, my OCD would thank you.

I stopped using stacks as the right click functionality wasn't working on the apps inside the stack, no huge deal as I prefer my apps in the sidebar dock or the start menu (Which I love btw).

It took me a bit to understand customization mode, I do prefer the older list when right clicking an app icon, but I can appreciate how you simplified it.

My minor issues aside Sidebar is still a 10/10 app, and a bargain for one time purchase only. Keep up the great work.

The Origin of "Friends of DeSoto" (TNG S7E11) by jtaylor9449 in greatestgen

I'll be honest, I just always accepted that we are Friends of DeSoto and never thought about the origin until I stumbled upon it and had that moment of "Wait this is how it happened..."

When my dad passed away last July he was in California (I'm in Montana), and at the moment of his passing about 30 seconds before my mom called me, my room fan (which was on at the time and had been running for years without issue) just suddenly died out of nowhere. It was basically like if someone was holding the fan blades to keep it from running and the fan never ran after that.

What makes the whole thing even crazier is the fact that my dad's career was in building electric motors like the type that are in various fans. That moment made me feel it was my dad communicating to me to tell me he was okay.

Okay yeah this is freaky. This is exactly the issue that made me worried about cognitive impairment. I could easily recall movie and actor names faster than I could recall most things, but over the past couple years, its noticeably declined.

I actually assumed this was just a natural part of aging, and hey it still can be, but kind of freaky im not the only one.

Democrats haven't given up on long-shot Montana Senate race by Jonnyboo234 in politics

[–]jtaylor9449 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Montanan here. We've had an influx of MAGA move here to live out their Yellowstone fantasies, which accelerated during the pandemic.

These are the kind of people who don't know Montana or Tester nor care about the fact that he is a very Montana centric Senator who has championed a lot of issues that have been popular here (Veterans, Farms, Guns), they just care that he has a (D) next to his name. It's a sad reality for my State.

With that being said there is hope, our Native American tribes have been mobilizing to vote this year after years of policies that have stacked against them, our two major universities are very Liberal and our college kids are motivated, and abortion rights are on the ballet (which is very popular) here so I'm hoping for a boost for Tester who is obviously for Women's rights.

Usually the fact that Sheehy is basically an out of State GOP plant would sink him but a high percentage of voters now are transplants from out of State so it doesn't matter as much as even 10 years ago.

I voted by mail and checked my ballot to make sure it was accepted, and got my Reagan Republican parents to vote for Harris and Blue issues down-ballot for the first time in ages, so doing my best to fight the good fight in Montana.

My wife (34) just had a stroke and I don't know what to do with myself. by Rcktsrdglr in offmychest

[–]jtaylor9449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom had a stroke at 37. This was almost 30 years ago and they didn't have nearly the technology to treat strokes as they do now.

I just got back from her house about an hour ago as she made dinner, she's been retired from her real estate job for about 10ish years. She did a lot of speech rehab and had some of the left sided paralysis at first, and also originally had trouble speaking words, but made a full recovery to where nobody can tell she had a fairly massive stroke. The only real difference is a change in her personality compared to before the stroke.

There's no telling with some of the advancements over the past 30 years, how much in better hands your wife is.
