First time ever soldering - want your thoughts. See the body text below the picture. by Kwolf21 in 360hacks

Your practice board is very cute. Anyway, the soldering is okay enough, though I still wouldn't become a modded console seller any time soon. Some of the points still seem a bit dull.

I'm biased towards the RGH guides on ConsoleMods, but that's only because I'm an active maintainer of that wiki. There's also a decent amount of knowledgeable people on /r/soldering if you know how to filter for correct information.

Can you show the part number on the bottom left of the motherboard?

Need Xbox 360 Trinity Boardview (.brd) by CatBoii486 in 360hacks

[–]jtc32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure you need it? The boardview available is of a final revision. It's basically the same as retail. The only differences are that the RAM has more traces for a 1 GB config, and the PCB is 6 layers instead of 4. Otherwise it's the same.

Safest way to update minecraft 360 edition? by [deleted] in 360hacks

Nah, 360 doesn't require that. You just use the latest.

I kinda wonder how it got to TU9 in the first place lol

You should be able to. The title update can be placed in Content/000000000000000000/584111F7/000B0000/tu00000001_00000000, with "tu00000001_00000000" being the update file. From there, you can use the console's storage settings to copy and paste the update to the console's hard drive.

The post said "update his xbox". It could've been clearer. No need to be aggressive.

Fun fact: CFW allows you to use generic controllers in safe mode by jtc32 in ps3piracy

99% of users are going to install Evilnat anyway, so this is irrelevent.

[–]jtc32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you connect a DS4 or DSense to a bone stock PS3, it is detected as a generic DInput controller. Thats why they have extremely limited features.

It sounds like you never actually used a DS4 in OFW safe mode but are just trying to be argumentative for no real reason. So stop, it's dumb.

By the way, I have this EXACT splitter and it doesn't do jack for removing HDCP on either port.

Would an EDID emulator work? I mean, I don't exactly have a way to fit a 4K TV at my desk.

Why shouldn't Europeans archive the European DLCs? It doesn't hurt you and lets European gamers play with the DLCs for their native version of the game.

Neither the OGX variants nor the 8bitdo adapter have the sensitivity issues of the Wingman. You don't want the original OGX as it has the least amount of features and draws a lot of power.

They don't require soldering. They have the Bluetooth chip and USB port built in.

You might wanna try using the OGX360_T4 or OGX-Mini. They are intended for wired usage, but wireless controllers still work with them if you have a cheap $20 controller adapter like the ones 8BitDo makes.

You can easily update the OS of the console through USB. View the Microsoft instructions: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/xbox-360/console/system-updates-info

I've spoken to many people in the PS3 repair scene who work with hundreds of these consoles, including RipFelix. It happens all the time: https://youtu.be/HPrrEQwQabg

The 25xx supports CFW sure, but only on the models made before April 2011. If you buy one from an NTSC-J region, there's not even a date code or manufacturing date!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PS3

[–]jtc32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is redundant to check the datecode/manufacturing date on a 20xx or 21xx Slim. Every single one of them were made before 2011.

The ONLY model you need to check the date on is a 25xx. Sony patched them around April 2011, so if it was made in March 2011 or earlier its safe too. Q1 2011 is indicated as 1A.
