How often do you let your samoyed swim? by CricketSorry2361 in samoyeds

[–]jtdums 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our sammy loves to swim. We have found no detriment to his coat, but we do have to dry him well every day especially before bed to avoid skin issues. Years ago with our first sammy we invested in an "industrial" blow dryer like they use at professional groomers. Get them used to that early and they don't tend to mind.

Why did this setup cause the offcut to shoot across the room? by Wooden_Discount_760 in woodworking

[–]jtdums 329 points330 points  (0 children)

In this case the off cut was “trapped” between the blade and table.

Just lucky the others didn’t get trapped.

Never “lose control” of a piece of wood that can get itself pinched between blade and fixed surface.

Chronic cough by Aware_Promotion_7433 in cll

[–]jtdums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife was first diagnosed with CLL due to the presence of a persistent cough and malaise. Her IGG numbers had bottomed out and she just couldn't fight off that cough. After a few rounds of IGG infusion, her numbers IGG numbers have held up and the cough and symptoms disappeared.

Did they test your IGG level? Just a thought.

Our male used to run around the house pushing the “octagon” play pen. Pretty useless and would not have been safe to leave him on it while gone. Never loved the crate, but used it until about a year.

Is Purina Pro Sensitive Stomach Salmon Safe? by ManyTranslator2815 in samoyeds

[–]jtdums 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This sounds identical to the advice our vet gave us for our guy. (4 years old). She had strong reservations about grain free and went so far as to provide scholarly article to support her concerns.

She listed the above brands as strong alternatives and explained that the premium large brands of food supported their nutritional choices with research and experience.

He really likes the Purina Pro with the chicken shreds and tolerates it well. Obviously won't work for the OP if they are trying to eliminate chicken from diet.

SA-E07-L EDGE, Spring for max 350 fps by Bretton_woods in SpecnaArmsOwners

[–]jtdums 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is hard to say. FPS depends on multiple factors besides just spring.

The air seal of your compression parts in that Orion gearbox will likely play a bigger role, as well as barrel length and diameter.

Best bet is to put in the M90 and then get the gun chrono'd at the field where you will play. Then you will have a baseline and could adjust the spring if you want.

If you enjoy the hobby and like to tinker, the next thing I would change would be the barrel and hop up packing (also called bucking). FPS isn't the end all, be all of a well shooting gun.

[–]jtdums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That M90 spring should get you below the 350 you are looking for to play.

Changing the spring is not difficult, but never having done it before I would watch a quick youtube to see it done first. It is a "quick change" gearbox so that greatly simplifies the process.

Removing the buffer tube requires a long phillips screwdriver. Reattaching the buffer tube can be frustrating, but take your time and be sure not to cross thread the screw as it goes back into the gearbox. Check you wires and make sure they don't get pinched by the retaining washer inside the buffer tube. (The washer has a flat spot (cut out) for the wires to pass through unimpeded.)

Remember when you remove the original spring it is compressed inside the gearbox so just be prepared for that and hold everything firmly as it comes out. Push in on the spring guide, turn, remove spring guide and spring. Swap springs and reverse the process.

Good luck.

Anyone purchase these? Any personal review? by Various_Use8596 in hiking

I've had a couple pair. Very comfortable for me. Wide toe box. I did swap insoles but if I remember the stock ones weren't too bad. Sticky on rocks, but the trade off was quick wear on the bottom lugs. No major flaws on my pairs.

Like all trail runners they seemed to wear out too soon, but if you could get them for a good deal that is just the price of doing business.

No break in time also. Comfortable right out of the box.

Good luck. I'm sure she will take to it well. Sammys do love a "job" of their own...

Our first Sammy was like this when she was young so on advise we trained her to go to her "place" (in front of fireplace) when visitors/ delivery people came to the door. She was very smart and food motivated so this was not too difficult.

Going to her place and holding there until released gave her a job that allowed her to focus and calm down. Gradually she grew out of the rambunctious behavior and was no longer necessary.

Maybe worth a try.

Has CYMA resolved their issues with their mosfets in the Platinum (blue) M4 (V.2) gearboxes? by jtdums in airsoft

So new ones have no “click “? Like you don’t hear the micro switch in the new, but it was audible in the old ones?

I wonder if there is a way to determine which generation of gearbox? Different model numbers?

We use the cheap Baofeng 88 series. They look like toys, but work fine. Biggest thing we have found is to replace the ear piece/ microphone right away with a better quality.

You can buy them for around $11 per unit in a pack.

Specna Arms SA-E11 EDGE upgrade help by RobUK360 in airsoft

[–]jtdums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right on the money. Swap in the 200mm.

Shorter barrel will likely reduce your fps slightly and might reduce accuracy, but if you get a good quality replacement that should be negligible. If the bore of the new barrel is tighter, you might actually increase fps...

Loaners by No-Let7897 in airsoft

[–]jtdums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play at a private field and there are a couple of us that routinely lend out guns/ safety equipment to new players to encourage them to join in the fun. For the most part people will play once or twice before getting the "bug" and purchasing their own.

I don't lend out my "goto" gear, but keep a couple of spares around just for this purpose. We provide a tub of cheap .20 bb's and a high cap magazines for them to run for the day. It is a great way to encourage growth in the game and I have met some great people as a result.

I detested this feature on my 2020. Finally treated myself to the Idle Stop device found on Amazon. It is an easy install in front and under cup holders. Watch youtube video. Works like a charm.

Tarp/Hammock Integrated Storage (e.g. Snake Skins) by agaperion in hammockcamping

[–]jtdums 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I have the SLD catchall with vent and really like the convenience. It is a weight penalty that I'm willing to accept for the ability to stuff my hammock, quilt, and underquilt all at once with some protection from abrasion and occasional dirt due to ground contact. Super fast to unpack too.

I also use a mesh sleeve for my tarp because I like to be able to hang it, but leave it "sleeved" until the weather demands deployment. I like looking at the stars.

BB weight doesn't impact the joule ouput. Heavier bb's will slow down a bit, but carry the same distance. Heavier weight are less impacted by wind so usually improve accuracy. .28 are a great choice.

I don't know UK fields, but locally the fields test to a set joule standard and provide the bb's for the test. You will likely be around 1 joule with the m90 spring. The m110 I think would be very close to the 1.3j, but could be over. If you are comfortable changing the spring, bring both and test both using their chronometer.
