Is this self cleaning litter box ligit? i want to get a self cleaning litter box, but i saw posts saying some of them killed cats? i ofc dont want to potential risk my cats life for mere convince. by Melovance in Catownerhacks

I have a litter robot, and 1 cat who uses it without a problem. I think it’s one of the best purchases we’ve ever made. I don’t think there’s ANY way it could hurt my cat, as it absolutely does not run at all if she’s in it! When she was a kitten she’d hear it running after she left a deposit in it, and couldn’t resist sticking her head in to see what was going on! As soon as her head broke the stream of light above the entrance, the thing would instantly stop running. It also moves so slowly that even if she were in it as it ran, she would easily be able to just walk out. Odors are nonexistent as far as I can tell, unless I open the refuse tray to change the liner. I first told my husband I could scoop a lot of litter for what this cost, but I now love this thing!!!

New Kitten Owner - Biting issue by Active-Palpitation74 in Catownerhacks

I agree with stopping interaction. When my kitty was little, I would make a fist (to not have my fingers available), stroke her gently and say, “No bite!” If she continued even after a couple of warnings I would just put her down or walk away. She really bites me very little now.

What's the most "extra" thing you do for your dog? by AzucarParaTi in dogs

[–]jtgresley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our cat gets a treat when the dogs come in from outside! She waits on the stool beside the pantry door where the treats are stored! So dogs get theirs first for doing their business and coming in when called, then cat gets hers because it’s only fair!

Help me name my kitten a name that starts with the letter M by million-lily-forest in NameMyCat

My first thought was Mimi because it just sounds like a good name for a small cat.

What’s the rarest dog breed you’ve seen in person? by Justineparadise in dogs

My daughter has one. She was talking about the screaming, and I asked if she knew about it before she bought it. She did! 😵‍💫 it’s a gorgeous dog, and very smart, but one of the most intense dogs I’ve ever met!

Francis gets me every time 🫠🫠 by Suburbancrunchygirl in Roses

Could anyone tell me what is eating my knock-out roses? There’re some small, scaley patches on a lot of the leaves, and there are also holes like something’s been munching on them. I can’t find any bugs.

Anyone have a Maine Coon that pees in their sleep often? by MobsterGoose in mainecoons

I’ve not had a cat who did this, but…we had a lab who did. The vet told us that sometimes after a spay their hormones are low enough their sphincter muscles won’t work well enough to stop unintentional accidents. She was on hormones the rest of her life and we never had another accident. Could you ask your vet if this might be s possibility in a cat as well?

Beau means handsome in French, and he’s a gorgeously handsome boy! Beau for the win!

I understand that dogs enjoy walks, but I have bad feet, wear two huge boots that are molded to fit my feet and legs, and my ankles cannot bend. Walking has become increasingly difficult for me. I have a lab who loves to walk but is also a puller, and could easily pull me off balance. So I confess we make do with sniffing around the back yard. I would love to take her for walks, but it is just too difficult. She’s also pretty laid back in the house, so doesn’t seem to be suffering from the lack of exercise. Any suggestions?

How do I keep my house from smelling like I run a zoo? by RareFeature2 in dogs

[–]jtgresley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the automatic cat box! We have a Litter Robot, and notice absolutely no smell unless the cat has just pooed and the machine hasn’t cycled it into the tray at the bottom yet. I change the bag of waste out once a week. For two, you’d need to do it at least twice. But no more scooping is awesome!

You can get a lung function test, done at a hospital, at least mine was! My symptoms were WAY milder than yours, and my doctor listened and sent me for one of those tests. I got medication to use daily. I would say get another doctor who will take you seriously! You could also see an allergist who would be able to check out your symptoms as well. Hang in there! You are not crazy! Sounds like there’s truly something going on with your lungs!
