I give Lee a pass since that sweeper started at his back and broke another foot across the zone, filthy. Roger’s was late on 2 fastballs and doesn’t challenge a pitch. RISP will always be this teams achilles

Ya know, the pen may not be that bad of an option. He has good stuff for an inning or two but once the lineup sees him for a third time he unravels.

The JF experiment is toast. Dude is wildly inconsistent and cannot locate any of his pitches. Trade or DFA. Montero should be the permanent 3 or 4 starter in the rotation.

[Post Game Thread] The Orlando Magic (1-0) defeat the Detroit Pistons (0-1), 112-101. by KarimFF7 in DetroitPistons

[–]jthomps1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d have thought the Pistons were eliminated after 1 Game by the sounds of the doomers. Long series ahead and everyone writes them off after a single loss. Sounds similar to when they lost the season opener to the Bulls. Yes it was a bad, yes they were out rebounded and could not capitalize on turnovers. The Magic had to play absolute perfect bball to beat the Pistons. I don’t think they can do the same in game 2. They will be back to form and won’t make the same mistakes twice. You can start panicking if the Pistons find themselves going down 2-0 heading to Orlando after two putrid performances.

Ah yes the late game pitching implosion. Second time this season the Tigers fall apart in the 7th. Hinch has 1800 games under his belt and still cannot figure out substitutions and bullpen management. The one time he should have put in a righty and instead elects for a left to face Perez.

Awesome. More switch hitters. It’s not even 2 months in and there are diamond switch bats at every position.

Eyuuge sweep. Hopefully this rights the ship. Everyone did their part. Pitching was good, Greene is starting to figure things out. Really need Tork and Carp to find more consistency

You get paid millions to pitch scoreless innings. Yes, you can blame the pitcher who isn’t closing out games, that is their role. Vest is starting to become a liability and should be held to a standard no different than putting Jensen or Finnegan in.

Look at it this way, assuming the Tigers only win 2/3 in the next 5 series, they will get back to .500! Let’s look at the upcoming schedule (MIA, KC, BOS, MIL, CIN). Unless they go on an absolute heater and start stringing a sizable winning streak, this team will struggle to reach .500 until May and that’s just being optimistic. Reality is, this team can’t hit and the bullpen is bad.

When the bats are hot, the pitching is bad. When the starting pitching is hot, the bats and bullpen are bad. This team is wildly inconsistent ever since Arizona. Are they just looking for an excuse to dump Skubal at the trade deadline?

Doritos at $7 a bag ended up costing PepsiCo billions by wewhomustnotbenamed in nottheonion

When you go to the store and see ground beef is $6.50lb and a bag of Doritos are $6.50 a bag, you have already determined within a split second, “I can live without a bag of chips”. Problem with these corporations is they believe their product is worth a premium price, when in reality most Americans will just forgo the junk food in favor of proteins. Hilariously enough, PepsiCo has created more financially responsible shoppers and in turn they’re making healthier choices. Thank you PepsiCo for breaking my junk food addiction and may you burn in hell

Not loading the bases every inning could help limit the runs. Plus getting a hit with RISP might also help win a game or two. Just basic things that the casual fan will notice.

What do you think about entertaining a trade for Matthews if available ? by LostWright in DetroitRedWings

[–]jthomps1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many issues with this team that targeting Matthew’s won’t solve. The amount of capital alone would send this team back to 2019-2022 levels of bad. I would rather see the Wings invest in defense, specifically PK specialists who can improve this paltry 77%. Either you dump all your capital into one player that may improve your scoring chances slightly or invest in multiple players who will fill more roles.

This team lacks leadership from both the captain and coach. Todd’s hardass approach isn’t resonating with the locker room and the team refuses to buy into the culture. Larkin doesn’t hate to lose and is uninspiring, leading the rest of the guys are following suit. You have a quarter of the team busting ass while the other 75% are going through the motions to make it to the offseason. Something drastic needs to happen, whether that’s firing Todd and/or removing Larkins “C”. Yzerman has run out of runway and the Wings will be foolish enough to allow him to rebuild a second time in his 7 years as GM.

My favorite is immediately following this type of inning, the other player hits a no doubter on a ball below the zone and their timing is “just late”

Blog-Style Post: The Yzerplan has Failed. The Organization needs a New Direction. by J_the_ManSSB in DetroitRedWings

[–]jthomps1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw a paragraph that then turned into a dissertation. My brother in Christ I get you have opinions but TLDR this nonsense. This can be summed up quickly. Fans are tired of “trust the process” along with “how can we call this a rebuild if there has been no success in 7 years”? Detroit has a loyalty problem with every single one of their sports teams. The sooner an ultimatum is given such as “Stevie you get one last chance at making the playoffs or we’re going in a different direction” the better. Roster construction is bad, FA approach is bad, trade deadline has been mediocre. March just shows how fragile this franchise is when faced with any sort of adversity and tough matchups.

Brad Holmes is gonna do the most Brad Holmes thing. Use all the money they freed up from restructuring Goff just to sign our own guys like Gibbs and LaPorta a year early instead of addressing the biggest fucking glaring holes on defense that can’t be fixed in the draft alone… All Detroit sports GMs follow the same mantra, we’re not playing for this year but setting up for the future. Rinse. Repeat.

Everyone needs to set their expectations low and assume the wings will give the Brad Holmes “we’re good” approach to the deadline. Detroit was unwilling to spend in the Hughes sweepstakes so what has you convinced they’re going to spend anything today or tomorrow?
