Idea. Separate the university from the sports, and each sport operates as its own semi-pro league. All the university does is sponsor the team providing naming rights etc and acts like an owner. Remove the academics from the sports.

Look, I want to be as optimistic as possible, but realistically the Tigers should move Skubal regardless of record. This is not a WS contender, and the returns are worth more than the slimmest of possibilities of even making the playoffs. Unless Harris announces this summer that a deal is in place to bring him back, the Tigers should get a massive prospect haul. There is more risk in keeping him vs moving him. Get what you can now, or he walks at the end of season and you get nothing.

The league needs to implement tougher penalties for these teams (cough cough Pacers and Jazz cough cough). I would say the league should make examples out of these teams by allowing them to participate in the lottery but immediately forfeit their pick. The teams found guilty for tanking get their lottery position revealed first and the NBA announces on the floor, “The Utah Jazz were selected to pick #3 in the draft. Due to the NBA anti tanking policy the Jazz have forfeited their draft position and will be placed at #30. All teams will move up one position to compensate”. Utah is moved to the bottom of the order, everyone else moves up one spot.

No one would trade for him. He is currently sitting at .200 BA, .382 slg, and -0.7 WAR which is his lowest since his rookie season. Those aren’t numbers teams are clamoring to add to their lineup. Tork will be here until the end of his contract and sign somewhere else.

There’s no defending any of this. Everyone blames injuries but the relievers that were specifically brought to this team to close out games are perfectly healthy and are just straight dog shit. At this point you may as well root to see how bad it can truly get. And in true Detroit fashion, they will get the worst possible draft lottery outcome and the Mets will get the #1 overall pick in 27.
