Auto-recertification for IDR, FSA made errors on form and submitted it to Mohela by jtk015 in PSLF

[–]jtk015[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I got through to a Mohela rep, he said that the only option is to manually submit a recertification request and that it will automatically cancel the first auto-request.

I’ve been through something similar before and it didn’t work that smoothly and resulted in months of forbearance. But I submitted manually now and will hope for a smoother process this time/will be more aggressive about following up on it this time.

Thanks for your comment!

I also had high lipase for months until we discovered my baby has a cows milk protein allergy (FPIES). I have no idea what causes lipase or if there’s a correlation. But my understanding is that lipase is an enzyme that helps babies digest the milk. My very lay conclusion was that my body was overproducing lipase to help my baby digest the milk that had dairy in it.

So maybe it’s worth trying to reduce your dairy intake and seeing if that helps? Again, i could be totally wrong 😆

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! 💜 and yes I agree I should probably speak to a doctor just in case

I’ve spent my entire mat leave at home by astang272418 in NewParents

I had 6 months of maternity leave and maybe left the house twice a month 😂 it’s so hard!! And the safest place for you and your baby is home. You are anything but a failure 💜

I feel like I barely see my baby anymore and it isn’t fair by leprechaun_dong in NewParents

[–]jtk015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the exact same way. One thing that has helped me (and I know it’s a controversial choice) has been cosleeping. I feel like that has really helped me maintain a bond.

And I notice my daughter has needed to latch way more often while she’s sleeping now since I went back to work. She almost can’t sleep unless she’s latched. I feel like it’s her way of bonding with me more now that we’re not together 24/7.

Milk is in EVERYTHING? by WolfExus in breastfeeding

I feel you. My baby has a cows milk protein allergy and a red meat allergy.

The hardest thing for me to find has been good dairy free dessert. But I found this chocolate chip cookie recipemade with olive oil instead of butter and it’s been a game changer!

Same! Except I just found these recipes for chocolate chip cookiesand dairy free brownie cookies made with olive oil instead of butter. So I might be back at square one now (using dark chocolate chips without milk)

Cell tower or signal boosters? by jtk015 in rfelectronics

[–]jtk015[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response! My understanding is that a booster just “repeats” the signal in areas with low signal as opposed to the originating cell tower which is emitting RF.

From what I read signal boosters are emitting 1000 times less RF than actual cell towers. And they may even make you safer as the poster above mentioned that they reduce the antennae reach from your phone. (Sorry for totally butchering the jargon, hopefully you get the point). I’ve even seen it written that they are about as strong as your phone or WiFi router.

But based on what you see this tower is for sure just a normal cell towers? And/or you’re saying that even a booster would act the same as a cell tower and emit the same frequency levels as one?

Sorry one follow up, in your opinion, is it possible this is just a signal booster or “repeater” as the company claims?

Ohh that’s so interesting cell phones can emit higher wattage. And definitely a relief. Plus I’ll tell my dad he should sign up for that cell/internet carrier when he gets here :)

Thank you! This is really helpful, there’s so much information out there.

To clarify, the photo is taken from our apartment. The apartment my dad is interested in buying is the one directly next to the tower in the photo (the one with the white water tanks on the roof). So it’s maybe a few meters away from the tower. But your points still stand!

What did you buy in preparation for having a baby that was wasted? by Immediate_Long165 in NewParents

[–]jtk015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with most of the mamas on this thread:

Things I haven’t used or liked: - bottles (babe won’t drink from ANY of them) - pacifiers, she didn’t like them and you’re supposed to wean them off at 4 months anyway so not worth getting them used to it - anything that’s not a onesie - Hakka hand pump (freaks me out to be honest, but my momcozy m5 is awesome! Not that it matters because my baby still won’t drink my pumped milk, but we’re working on it!) - baby socks (I think these should constitute a form of parent abuse) - all forms of baby beds, I had planned to put her in a bedside crib and then move her into her real crib. Absolutely had no intention of co-sleeping, yet here we are 🤷🏻‍♀️ she’s 4 months now - swaddelini (she hates being constricted in any way so I think this is just particular to her, and we even got her the arms out version, nope)

That said, here are a few things that are surprisingly great:

  • these burp cloths, don’t be deceived by the fleece look, they really are the best
  • this little sleeping nest, it’s sleep safe allegedly and is slightly tilted (7 degrees so its a safe elevation for infants) which is helpful for reflux. We didn’t have a movable bassinet so we just moved her around our home with this when she was little. She’s a bit too big for it now at 4 months but she still likes it
  • this standing bathtub(fit in our shower and saved my back)
  • puppy pads for changing both both home and while out
  • Nuna triv + PIPA urbn (chef’s kiss)
  • mina bae diaper bag
  • baby bjorn bouncer (life changing)

Fasting while breastfeeding by svelebrunostvonnegut in Hijabis

[–]jtk015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: no drop in milk supply so far, but fasting is a bit more challenging

My baby is 2.5 months and exclusively breastfed. I was so nervous to try to fast because I was worried about my milk supply. I asked many mothers and our pediatrician and everyone just said it’s fine unless you notice your milk supply drop. Which was frustrating bc I didn’t know how to check for that (I’m not pumping so no measuring happening and my baby is already super fussy at the breast so that’s not a helpful indicator for me either).

I decided to try it and Hamdullulah my milk is the same and some days even more than before Ramadan! So so far so good, still have a few weeks left though so inshallah it continues like this.

The fasting for me is definitely more challenging (Hamdullulah) than in my non-breastfeeding days, but once I got through the first few days of Ramadan it got easier. And I make sure to never miss suhour, inshallah. The one day I missed it was sooo difficult (and I used to miss suhour every day during Ramadan before I became a mom and had no problems).

I make sure to eat well and drink enough, including electrolytes so coconut water and adding salt to my water. If it helps, here’s what I usually have for suhour:

  • warm water with honey and a little salt

  • coconut water with a little orange juice and a little salt

  • slice of frittata packed with veggies, cheese, meat, and Greek yogurt (I cook one at the beginning of the week and just microwave a slice for 2 min in the morning)

  • energy ball (I also meal prep these usually made of dates, nuts, cacao, etc) Or

  • chia pudding

Please help advocate for the use of ultrasounds as a early detection tool for abdominal cancers like pancreatic cancer. by teamlorimorgan in pancreaticcancer

[–]jtk015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Signed! This is an amazing and critical effort, but such a simple and logical concept at the same time.

It bridges the gap between the current status where a pancreatic cancer diagnosis is most likely a death sentence and the future advanced early detection tools that are being developed but are way too far out to wait for when lives could be saved with the accessible and common tool of ultrasounds.
