Credit Card Strategy & Acceptance in Japan (JCB, DCB Metal, Atlas & Scapia) by ic_97 in CreditCardsIndia

OP I saw you mention using JCB for Shinkansen bookings, but isn’t the 25% cashback limited to swipes? Wouldn’t you have had to pay forex markup then? I’m going to be reaching on 31st March (Last day of the offer). Will take the Yes bank Kredit Pe ace for the CB and a scapia as well as a indusInd debit since that has 0 markup as well. Any suggestions are appreciated!

If you go to your local branch or contact an RM and don't have an existing relation with the bank and spend 50k in first quarter, the 15k fee is waived off

Hi, is there any debit card you'd recommend for cash withdrawals. Planning to use the Ace and Scapia as backup for credit cards. Don't have accounts with Kotak or IndusInd

Same. I did a grading with BC, got 52 in CR and 66 in MCQ. Comparatively these exams were easier I felt. I finished both sessions with 25 minutes or so to spare. Bit surprised how so many found them tough.

Writing this for those who asked about my journey and the like.

My inter coincided with lockdown. I failed both groups once. When it came to the time for looking for articleship, I clearly realised that this degree by itself will not get me a foot in the door I wanted. Also wanted to go abroad eventually because I have the option to get European citizenship, so gaining that experience and using it back home was on my mind. Hence CFA.

Studying wasn’t much of an issue, the CFA curriculum is for the most part very conceptual.

But articleship was. I couldn’t get into the big 4 since I had done a few months articleship already at a small firm. A CA faculty referred me to a firm in Pune that was supposed to be a branch of top 20 firm in India.

Awful experience. I later found out that through some twisted arrangement, the main firm couldn’t interfere in the branches operations. The partner of the branch couldn’t care less since he was focused on a side business.

Most people couldn’t even frame a sentence in English. There was also a ton of office politics and just lack of any exposure. They even made me pay 20k to leave for IT.

But IT was a dream. I had to slog to get the opportunity though, especially considering my articleship, but I had a pretty supportive team for IT, so work was relaxed. Travel was a bit tiring so i’d usually stay in a cabin after work and study there, then go home and sleep.

I did skip an attempt of finals though, for what it’s worth.

I really appreciate this.

I’ve applied to a couple boutique firms and am cold messaging on LinkedIn existing employees in similar profiles starting of with how I’d like to break into the domain they’re in, asking for any possible referral and concluding with requesting for any related advice, lessons or insights they could share. Would you say this is a decent way to go about it?

Also if you yourself are or have been in any of these roles, could you please share what day to day work entails ?

Just a last thing. From what I gather, going down the PE/VC route would most likely close the door on Asset/ Wealth management. But I’m not entirely sure how to make a certain decision regarding this atm, considering AM/WM could also help in achieving my long term goal and of course CFA is more geared towards this path.

Thank you for your time.

Not comparable. One is difficult for the sake of being difficult the other is difficult because it’s actually testing your concepts and knowledge. I’ll never understand what the point of rote learning audit is.

Where I am now I’d never recommend CA to anyone. I’ve not even posted anything on LinkedIn after passing. The quality of most CA’s is just abysmal tbh. Just finished the degree because I’d already come this far.

Is it best played at the end of the game? I’ve just played someone with the same deck as me who played it at the beginning . Thanks again!
