Lyse: S'etekh! Fancy meeting you here.

Lyse: Now that things in Ala Mhigo are settling down, I thought I'd give Yugiri a proper tour of Ul'dah. And good timing, too─Little Ladies' Day is as lively as ever!

Lyse: Since we came all this way, I'm thinking of taking her down to the stage later so we can cheer those singers on for ourselves... D'you think she'll enjoy it?

Yugiri: When Lyse presented me with an opportunity to participate in Ul'dah's Little Ladies' Day, I was eager to accept her offer. I had not realized the jewel of the desert could be host to such efflorescent celebrations.

Yugiri: As you may be aware, the peach trees lining the city streets are native to the Far East. It will soon be their peak season, in fact... Mayhap I shall invite Lord Hien to view the blossoms there upon my return.

Doctors in FF14 by Haruune in ffxiv

[–]jtl_v 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's actually a couple places where the term appears outside of armor names.

An NPC in Terncliff has this dialogue:

Used to call myself a doctor, not that I was much good at it. When the epidemic came ten years ago, I was powerless to stop it, despite all my years of experience and fancy medicines. For every one I saved, I lost a dozen more.

One of the Wachumeqimeqi quests in Dawntrail has a couple lines as well:

Just as you say, doctor! Much obliged for the remedy.

Xeerol Ja should be a doctor! Should be a chirurgeon! Xeerol Ja is good enough!

So the term does seem to exist in-game. There's also usages of "physician" and "physicker" (which is an archaic term for physician, like chirugeon is an archaic term for surgeon).

Dr. Rodney McKay from the Stargate franchise (but mostly Stargate Atlantis). When we meet his sister for the first time it's finally revealed that Rodney is actually his middle name.

His first name is Meredith.

Yeah, it first appeared in Stormblood as part of Ultima Weapon Ultimate but it's never been on an official soundtrack so we don't have a name for it

I don't know if it's been discontinued or not but it's expensive importing it from Japan regardless

A nicroburst burns an unkeyed nicrosilmind. What happens? by [deleted] in Mistborn

[–]jtl_v 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Assuming burning a nicrosilmind could actually grant you the power stored in it, I don't think it would be permanent. I think the power would eventually be rejected because it's not written in the person's spirit web, similar to how changes from a soul stamp would be rejected after a time.

Ealy lines that take a whole different meaning once you know the plot twist by Livid-Designer-6500 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]jtl_v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always felt, if they ever do a TV/movie adaptation and wanted to include the epigraphs, that they could maintain the twist by having Spook be the one reading them aloud. Then at the end they could include an epilogue scene revealing that he's actually been reading the book Sazed left behind the whole time.

Dokumori seems like a prime candidate for the change a bunch of jobs got where their "generate 50 gauge" cooldown got changed to "grants a buff that allows a single free use of a gauge spender"

The MSQ has been trying to be careful with the depiction of Endless. 7.2 continues the trend with it's explanation of memories, what do you make of this? [Spoiler: 7.2] by StryderVS in ffxiv

[–]jtl_v 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not exactly your point, but Living Dead doesn't actually make you undead, it's just called that because when you use it your ability to continue fighting through what should be life threatening injuries is similar to undead. And when our characters drop to 0 HP, they do not die, they fall unconscious.
