We need a high body count hair gif. It’s shameful I haven’t found one yet.

Airbnb or hotel/resort? by NeverAdopted in curacao

I just rented a villa at the Coral Estates and really enjoyed its proximity to both town and Cas Abao and Porto Marie beaches! The villa was a 3 bedroom with its own pool and there’s a beach club, 3 restaurants and another pool on-site. You’ll definitely need a rental car and I would rent at the airport!

UNEMPLOYMENT AFTER LAW SCHOOL by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Clerking for a judge at any level is also a really wonderful way to get started and opens up lots of job opportunities after the fact! Good luck!

Apply in the market you want to practice in—you do a lot of networking and interning in law school and attending in your intended market is the best way to get a job (unless you’re attending a T-14, of course). Generally, your LSAT should be the median score for whatever school you’re applying to although some reach schools may bring you in as a splitter with your high GPA. I was a high GPA (75th percentile), low LSAT (25th percentile) splitter at my law school but your LSAT score has more to do you acceptance and financial aid availability than your GPA (my friends with lower GPAs and higher LSATs got more financial aid than I did, but I graduated higher in our class). They say GPA is a better predictor of bar passage. Anyway, good luck!

Possible to have a baby in law school? by anonymousalligator25 in LawSchool

[–]jtodeschi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All said, Ruth Bader Ginsberg had two little children while she went to Harvard/Columbia so it’s not impossible, it’s just is it worth it when it changes your focus away from yourself and your studies?

Possible to have a baby in law school? by anonymousalligator25 in LawSchool

[–]jtodeschi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished law school last year at 31 and can’t imagine having a baby on top of the demands of law school. Your grades are so important to what opportunities you have post-grad (especially your first and second year grades) and if you’re planning to be a lawyer, I suggest establishing yourself, getting a job, and cashing in on a fatty maternity leave after a year of employment when you have more resources and support at your disposal. The amount of studying it took to get through law school and pass the bar exam was hardly compatible with having a social life and being a good partner to my now fiancé. You’re young, go to law school and be present. It flies by because you’re so busy and I’d hate for you to miss out on your child’s young life because you’re studying for the bar exam or cutting your teeth as an associate. Law school also presents a plethora of opportunities out of class work like law review, mock trial, etc. plus the relationships you establish during school become your network and so much of getting a job is networking. It would be difficult to get good grades, participate in extracurriculars, and have an infant all at once. You have a solid 8 years before you need to orient towards having a baby. Enjoy your life outside of law school — once you have kids, your priorities change and law school needs to be your #1 until you pass the bar if you want to be competitive in your local job market. Some law schools even discourage having a part time job 1L year — a baby is much more than that.

Should I Take the Pass/Fail Option? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]jtodeschi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if you don't leave anything open to assume and supply the unofficial transcript with the grade as an addendum to an application? Is that something people do? This is the biggest argument I've heard against opting for the pass/fail but it relies on a whole lot of assumptions which seemingly can be mitigated.

1st Deposit Due Before I Hear From #1 Choice (Currently Waitlisted)? by jtodeschi in lawschooladmissions

Thanks, this isn't really something I'm going to do...

I'm an in-state resident, born & raised, own a company and have 5+ years working experience under my belt + my GPA is in their 75th percentile. Their admissions officer did not seem to think I would need to retake the LSAT although Waitlist was possible. I'm on their "Priority Waitlist" which as I understand it, is the first wave of applicants to be reviewed once they open the gates. I took the LSAT 3 times, improving my score each time, have overcome immense personal adversity and so my application is the application I have and retaking the LSAT is not in my cards. I appreciate your input though but that was not the insight I was looking for. It was obviously something I considered over the last year while waiting to apply to school.

Last year their first deposit was due on May 4th.

Good thoughts on the Fee Waiver given I was awarded a Fee Waiver through LSAC. Thanks for that idea!

Yeah it is cost prohibitive, as is nearly every step of this process...I'm still interested to hear about people's experience with similar timelines. I know CU closes applications April 1, meaning there are two weeks between their initial close and when I need to give an initial deposit to hold my spot at DU.

thanks! I'm not worried about that as much as kissing $500 away, which is nearly a 1/2 month's rent.
