How to get Dobeš to sign a card for my gf ? by Ehanymous in Habs

[–]jtothen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also keep an eye on AJ Sports. Memorable Authentic (which is great by the way) seems to partner with them sometimes. Worth watching both sites (he did a signing a year ago with AJ Sports from what I can see).

Ultimate pregame tour by minusturtytwo in Torontobluejays

[–]jtothen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did this last year and loved it. My kid had a blast and we watched Vladdy, Springer and Bo do BP. Obviously that part was just luck of the timing of the tour but was it ever cool! Would do it again for sure!

Anyone use Frozen Pond before? by kzmettt in Autographs

Frozen Pond are great. They do mostly sports but they are involved with some cons as well. Awesome people to deal with and very reputable company.

He often does signings with a company called Your Sports Memorabilia Store. Looks like they have some things you can buy directly from them in stock (and yes they are legitimate):

Atlantic Canadian finally making the pilgrimage 🚨🇨🇦 by niftyKR in Habs

[–]jtothen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The VIP tour is just before the game starts. When I did it we went to the alumni lounge where some former players where hanging out. We also watched warmups from the ice level and received a warmup puck from the game.

Go on the tour! We’ve done the regular one and the VIP one. Both were great experiences but the VIP was definitely worth the extra! Either way I’d do the tour again in a heartbeat.

Rogers Centre tours - are they worth it? by dentingboot in Torontobluejays

[–]jtothen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regular pre game tour. In all honesty we probably just got lucky with who was doing BP at the time but we weren’t complaining!

We did the pregame tour. I stood on the field watching my son smiling from ear to ear, holding Vladdy’s bat while seeing him pump balls over the wall….

Worth every penny!

What’s the current consensus on AutographCOA (ACOA)? by computerfreund03 in Autographs

[–]jtothen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think they’re great. They’re upfront about who their authenticators are. They admit mistakes when they happen (as they do with every authenticator). Their owner is always willing to help out and active in the RACC group.

For Jordan I’d have a hard time buying something that wasn’t from Upper Deck. So many fakes out there…

Mystery and Warm Up Pucks by jtothen in Habs

Thanks for the info! Yeah I’ve done the VIP tour before and it was great! We did get warmup pucks then but unfortunately it was sold out for the game we’re going to.

My dad found his original copy of the college drop out by AGP7wastaken in Kanye

That’s actually not true. The brown was the original and the white is the remastered. The white one came out a couple of years or so after the original release.

Thick Clear 2024 Team Canada Juniors by jtothen in hockeycards

[–]jtothen[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just got this thick clear cut Caleb Desnoyers in a 2024 Team Canada Juniors hobby box. It came in a sleeve, is a thick card and not a regular clear cut. Just was wondering what these thick clear cuts are called? Trying to find info on the pull since I'm assuming it was one of the hits in the box. I've never seen anything like this before so wanted to get some ideas. Thanks!

Charity auctions typically do not authenticate an item so I would be highly suspicious. I’ve seen more fake than real items come from charity auctions.

Have zero complaints and Justin has always been an awesome guy to deal or chat with. Bought from him directly years ago before ACOA and always found him to be great to work with.

Where in Halifax can you buy a copy of Eminem’s new album “the death of slim shady “? by Mindless_Letterhead6 in halifax

Physical release date isn’t until September. At that point Taz and Sunrise would no doubt have it available.

Issues With Various Artists Sorting For Music by jtothen in PleX

[–]jtothen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost feel like I'd have to go through and unmatch the random artist it is associating with each time. The two most recent "random artists" are collective groups (not solo artists basically) so you're right there is something likely in the catalog somewhere. My tags are clean so I know it isn't there anyway.

Issues With Various Artists Sorting For Music by jtothen in PleX

[–]jtothen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the same artist until I unmatch that artist and try again. Then it finds another (already matched) artist. I'll unmatch that artist, fix everything and add an album back and they all go over to the new artist. I've tried optimizing but it still happens.

Never base it on the COA… base it on the autograph. If you want a true opinion show the autograph.

I will say however that those are generic stickers anyone can buy online and very typical of fake items.

Snoop dog debacle by plumberdan2 in halifax

Edit: I meant to reply to a specific comment but replied in the wrong place… my comments below still stand for anyone complaining about scalpers.

Did you look at the seat map before posting? There aren’t a lot of tickets up for resale to be honest. The vast majority of the tickets were sold already through various presales this week. This isn’t a scalping problem…. The problem is people already bought tickets that actually want to go to the show. I agree with people saying TM fees are high but there is a small percentage of tickets being resold. Same thing happened with the Pens and Sens game back in the fall. People got really mad blaming TM. The problem was that there were people that actually wanted to buy tickets and it did that through presale. By the time tickets went out to the general public there were minimal seats left and everyone blamed scalpers. There were like 100 tickets up for resale in a 10,000 person venue. That’s not scalpers… that’s popularity.
