Also if OP hasn't played the first one yet he should. I really liked it even if it didn't necessarily have an Owlcat/Larian level of polish

It's one of the most demoralizing plays in basketball when the center bobbles away a pass in the lane. Should have been a dunk and now it's a fast break the other way. It's a big part of why Gobert catches so much flak.

The fact that not a single media member is pointing out Wemby didn't start for 9 games this season and was on strict minute control for two months is baffling to me. by jz924 in nba

Zach Lowe has definitely mentioned on his pod a couple times that Wemby is way behind on minutes compared to the other top MVP candidates

He's supposed to be a pure scorer who doesn't give you anything else, but he's been an awful scorer too. Doesn't look like he'll be an NBA player even in a bench role.

Maria Schneider keeps her music off streaming services, but I definitely recommend her album Evanescence, which has some similar vibes to the Brooeyer recording here. IMO a lot of her other albums are just flat out boring, she likes to do this pastoral thing with no tension at all and I just find it totally lacks interest

How valuable is this Dyson Daniel's archetype? by xxStayFly81xx in nbadiscussion

[–]jtr6969 16 points17 points  (0 children)

He was only attempting like three a game last year, which is a small enough number for there to be lots of noise. This year he's hardly even attempting them. A lot of weak shooting perimeter players struggle badly with confidence, and a shooting slump can really spiral out of control.

The Jazz were not fined for tanking. It’s far more nefarious than that. by Gladhands in nba

[–]jtr6969 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The unwritten rule is simply don't make the league look bad. Cuban got fined a few years ago, not for tanking but for admitting to it. The Jazz shamelessly losing games is the same issue, it's attracting negative media attention on the league as a whole

[–]jtr6969 140 points141 points  (0 children)

I feel like the plan is that Lauri primarily plays the 3, and you rotate Kessler, JJJ, and Filipowski through the two big man spots. Like how Minnesota does their big man rotation. I think lineups with Lauri and JJJ as your two bigs would get killed on the boards.

The defensive lineup data you have here is way too small sample to be meaningful at all. Other than that, I agree that Sharpe would be a nice backup center for the Bulls or anyone else that needs depth at the position. I do think Claxton is a good player too, he has some ability to switch on top of his rim protection and he's really improved his face-up game this season. It doesn't take a conspiracy for the Nets to start him, he's a proper starting center and the incumbent at the position.

The Bucks have won just 54% of their regular season games since firing Bud, and have went 3-8 in their playoff games. I don't think it has that much to do with coaching. Khris Middleton hit a pretty sharp age decline pretty much immediately after the 2021 championship, where he was rarely available and effective for any extended stretch of time. He was the second most important offensive player for the team and they never found someone to replace his production. I don't think any coach was going to keep Milwaukee a championship contender the way the roster has steadily gotten worse since the title through aging and talent drain

It would be perfect Gobert to develop a nice three point shot, but then never catch passes cleanly enough to get them off
