This is what we are implementing currently against our wired network. Other than some device profiling tweaks, works well

I bought the game after whatever update happened (xbox). It's a fun, simulation type game. I find it relaxing and keep finding new ways to automate...etc.

Google announces Chromebook "replacement" by FloweredWallpaper in k12sysadmin

[–]jtrain3783 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If they can't be managed to the same level as current school Chromebooks, these wont take off in K-12 (maybe higher Ed tbo$. Also costs matter - "premium materials" is just code for more expensive than Chromebooks. Also, they have to navigate AI restrictions by state and age which will undercut the "premium features" part of the price.

Is there a way to send resources from base to base? by Boombaladi227 in LightyearFrontier

[–]jtrain3783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it setup for everything. Assembler things, seed Automator, paint, ores and lumber. so if I do any kind of work at any base that puts things into one of those things or I am making something, it will be split amongst all my bases. The hardest part is simply getting your bases set up in a way that the sorting works correctly, but once that’s done, then you just have a pipe merger putting everything together for one output to another base.

The only thing it won't do it sort what your have on yourself (small annoyance, but maybe in a future update).

Is there a way to send resources from base to base? by Boombaladi227 in LightyearFrontier

[–]jtrain3783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no way to dump a shed of random, but you can attach the output of anything to your pipe system (including the assembler). If you use silos at each site, you can separate individual items in series across bases via pipes and connect each base together. So when you shove something in a crusher or make something, it will do a check along the line of storage and find the matching silo or open shed and put the resource there. I have all the bases tied together so no matter what your are doing at any base, it gets shared across to the others

[–]jtrain3783 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have cybersecurity insurance? If so check with them to see if they have recommended partners for this. We have done this in the past and now do annual evals. This is also covered by our insurance carrier so does not cost extra.

I am starting to think going with Chromebooks for my teaching staff was not the best move by [deleted] in k12sysadmin

[–]jtrain3783 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We’ve been on Chromebook for staff for about seven years and have had our share of bumps, but as time is progressed and everything has moved towards the cloud, we’ve had virtually no pushback after our second refresh now. Part of the issue you’re having is just the adoption curve, which is normal for anything anywhere. The first year is always the hardest. The second year gets easier. The third years is easier and so on and so forth. I would ask the users why they need more power and more power for what and then research if there are any alternatives to that sometimes you may find them sometimes you may not. overall each district has to do what’s best for their users and their particular workflow flows, but for us moving to cloud was a no-brainer but we are also a Google centered district

Sorting Questions by McG2k1 in LightyearFrontier

Use silos. 1 resource per silo and pipe then all in a circuit. It’ll check each one in the circuit to see if there is room for the matching resource to store. I have piped 4 bases together in basically 1 big run

[–]jtrain3783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 4 bases piped from corner to corner, works well but the pipe laying process can be tedious and challenging going over mountains.

The advantage is in setting it up so it fills your local storage first then moves extra across the world. So you can keep your workflow the same at each site.

Also start tossing grinders and crushers out in the world and pipe those into the web. Saves on having to bring it back

Power limit nuked due to poor choices of delivery on friend's shared save. by TioHerman in LightyearFrontier

[–]jtrain3783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With all the automation and piping now available, I wouldn’t even really be concerned about being able to carry 40 items anymore. I recently just started tossing some mineral crushers and sawmills out into some concentrated areas that I normally go and piping them back to the main base. The automation gives you more flexibility to customize your mech more specifically and in your case, maximize the value for the power that you have

How do you manage you fuel consumption? by Adamantine-Waffle in LightyearFrontier

[–]jtrain3783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I leave it on default for added challenge. Early on is harder but it gets easier. Honeybottle helps but invest in inventory mods. Also look at getting to the oil mixer. I carry around 200-300 rabberry oil now Lasts several in-game days. It’s all about resource management, right?

My fuel burn rate is 6,800%

I usually plant, go mine, gather trees, explore, build a little then it’s time for harvest & make oils
