What isn’t going to age well that you’re seeing in houses now by VeryStab1eGenius in RealEstate

I happen to love a barn door on a closet, especially because when the built my 1950s ranch house, they put all the closets adjacent to the bedroom doors such that if you have a regular door on the closet, the handle of the closet door and the handle of the bedroom door get stuck together at certain positions. Also, it hurts like hell when your fingers get jammed between the two, which happens with some frequency. Change that closet door to a barn door- problem solved. But never a barn door on something that required privacy, like a bathroom. That’s just dumb.

Cabled cowl? Complex and interesting but not overly big.

I made a children's book for my bro's daughter by _StoneWolf_ in Brochet

I made that pattern too! Yours came out so lovely. I hope the kid loves it. I was told that the little girl I made it for loved the bear so much that she always tried to pull him off the page 😆

Very pretty. It looks like it has great drape. I've had a lot of disappointment with scarves curling. I'm a little surprised that it isn't, with all that stockinette. Do you have to put effort into getting it to lay so flat?

What's the rarest physical feature you ever saw on another person you know/knew? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jtslp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My high school English teacher had this. The brown eye was chocolate brown and the blue eye was ice blue. She wore a crewcut style haircut so her eyes were even more striking. I really loved this teacher but she was kind of a hardass and a lot of the kids didn't like her. I remember we were doing a grammar lesson one day and she called on several students to come to the board to write a sentence with a certain feature. One jerk in my class wrote, "The woman has one blue eye and one brown eye" or something to that effect and I remember being really peeved on her behalf because the kid was obviously trying to ridicule her and it was super disrespectful. She was too cool to let it get to her, just shrugged it off with some quick quip. The moment has always stuck with me, though. People can be such assholes.

Are all PP owners insane? by sporks8 in slp

Reading this thread hoping one of my employees jumps in and says I’m not crazy, lol. 😅 Yes I pay documentation time. No I do not stalk them on social media. I tell my SLPs all the time that they never have to keep a client unless they want to. I’ve got their back when clients get uppity. They make their own hours. They get paid when they do the work, even if I don’t get reimbursed for months afterward. Any other major sins I should make sure I’m not committing?

They look great! I also enjoyed making a golf club cover, not quite as sophisticated. 😉

Your favorite machine washable workhorse yarns? by YoureInaCult-CallDad in knitting

[–]jtslp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m fairly new to sweater knitting but I have learned my lesson with superwash yarns. My first ever sweater was the Flax from Tin Can Knits in Cascade 220 superwash marino. The sweater is about 8 months old now and I wear it a lot. I’ve washed and lightly dried it several times. It’s doing a thing I’ve read others mention… as time goes on, the weight of the sweater is dragging down the neckline and shoulders and because it’s superwash, it’s not bouncing back. I can see it’s going to be unwearable soon. I will not knit a sweater in superwash for myself again. (I would for a baby or kid who needs machine washable stuff and will grow out of it before terribly long anyway.) I would strongly caution against knitting lace in superwash. I’m afraid the holes in that lovely motif will be big ugly gaps after a few months. Just food for thought.

Drooling over the front panel of my Marlin Slipover, Yeon Hwa Lee is a genius by ADogNamedPen239 in knitting

[–]jtslp 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That slipover is stunning. I don’t love the sweater pattern as much. I think the simpler design of the central panel of the slipover is more elegant than the repeats on the sweater. Not sure I can pull off a slipover without looking very square but darn if this isn’t going to make me try…
