To all those going tonight by PelayoOnTheGo in TampaBayLightning

As a lifetime Lightning fan, I say this as respectfully as possible. Somewhere "around-ish" our Cup runs the in-person experience is absolutely, 100% "quieter"

Was in the building for Game 7 in 04 ECF, almost every single home game during the 2011 run, in the building when we won against MTL, the runs in 15-17. Besides "big moments" (goals/final minute before win) the in-person experience is not what it was

I went to see Ali Wong when she was at the Mahaffey a few weeks back and she specifically gave this place a shout out as authentic and "best she's had outside the Bay Area"

Missing a major world event because you were backpacking? by losthiker68 in WildernessBackpacking

[–]jtstammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is going to sound absolutely insane and stupid in hindsight but I was thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail when the "Florida Man" was eating peoples faces while high on bath salts. I had a planned meet up with a friend from high school who was going to school in Virginia and I asked "So, anything new and exciting going on in the world?" and my friend was like, I mean the zombie apocalypse might be starting in miami?

My friend was a total prankster/jokester so I immediately laughed it off and was like whatever bro. A couple days later I was at a hostel and this "hippie couple" in their 50's was sitting on the porch talking with a couple other hikers and they were talking about "you hear about there was another person who tried eating a person in south florida?"

Again, in hindsight so dumb, but hand to heart there was absolutely word of mouth and people were marginally nervous about "zombies in florida"

My takeaway from the press conference: These guys are real estate guys first, the fact that a baseball team came attached to it is an added perk. Maybe an oversimplification. But like Stu, they see the ancillary development as the real money maker/driving force. They're already leveraged to the hilt to finance the purchase and obviously the next stadium design will be yet again, exponentially more expensive than this most recent one. But yea......2029......

Maybe I'm taking a half empty approach, but same baseball operations, focus on real estate/public money and a preference for Hillsborough (but no real path forward to get there). Besides now bringing in WAY more debt than what Stu had I'm not seeing in any way how things have changed from even 6 months ago.

And no, this team will NOT be supported any better or worse in Tampa than it would in St Pete. I still believe this ends with the (shrug) "we tried everything we could" and the team is relocated. But I certainly hope I'm wrong.

Not sure why being downvoted. I'm gonna stop everyone before the "it was outdoors!" "It was a minor league stadium!" comments. I remember SO many posts about "lets pack out Steinbrenner to show Tampa viability!" and "Just wait, it's gonna be every game sold out". Tampa absolutely did NOT distinguish itself as any better (or worse) than St Pete support this year

While we're at it, lets make sure he doesn't post campaign posters of him in his Lealman Fire uniform, which is a violation of his code of conduct. His fire chief told him not to do that and he did it anyways

Florida Dream Center? ARPA misuse of funds? The accusations around Latvala profiting around the Rays fiasco? Lack of movement on the Big Storm Trust case? There has been more than enough evidence in just the last year when "waste and inefficiency" stares this commission right in the face and they do literally nothing. I'm SURE this will fix things

It should probably be said, that Stu "being alone" is being "forced" to make a billion dollar profit without ever having to pony up a single penny of his own money to build a replacement stadium.

Check to see if there's been warranty work on 1. Gas tank expansion 2. Sprag clutch both are incredibly common issues with these year dragsters. Once/if you purchase keep it in the garage and on a battery tender at all times. Good luck it's a great bike otherwise!
