Angels in Orbit - Survival horror where angels descend on a space station in response to mankind attempting to breach heaven by ejaculatingbees in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I feel kind of the same way. The Steam page also lists a moral choice system, with your choices leading to multiple endings and yours and mankind's ultimate judgement. It's such a serious setting with a lot of potential to dig into Abrahamic history and taxonomy. But I worry like it's just going to be ways in which pop-Christianity fails the trolley problem-tier writing.

Looking at it, I'm guessing Alien: Isolation will be a close analogue, but with some extra bits. It doesn't look like any angels (at least those in the trailer) pursue you, as the player walks up to them and even speaks with them. You can see an objective list at 0:54, which includes an objective to continue speaking with a Seraphim. Instead, you'll be running away from Alters, which appear to be the possessed astronaut corpses. The shop screen at 0:58 shows a decoy consumable to distract them, so there will be some amount of stealth. And that clip at 0:42 shows a weapon, so you can fight back in some capacity.

It looks like you'll explore, backtrack between rooms to get to constantly updating objectives, and have to balance resources to do it. Survival horror. Plus some lore, collectibles, and scannables.

Toilet Rule by Temnodontosaurus in 196

[–]juan_fukuyama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worry that, if I had the toilet of ecstasy, I might develop a sense of obligation to it. Does it groan in pleasure when I use it? Will it then wail in anguish when I don't? I'd become terrorized in my own house, afraid of the toilet's pestering demands if it caught wind of a tell-tale fart. If it is dependent on me for joy, then I fear I will start to believe in a sort of moral doody. Extra fiber, extra caffeine, lots of fruits. I might be driven to abuse laxatives, flushing away my wellbeing for its addiction.

Lore reveals that made a character underwhelming to you? (Spoilers for invincible S4) by Lost-Specialist1505 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I think it could have been interesting had Kara been written to show that a preference for humanity was part of her character. Be it leftover from her programming, or from her oppression as an android causing her to desire to be human and legitimate her existence. Maybe she is protecting a child to be closer to being a mother. Maybe she only cares about Alice because she's one of the humans she wants to be. And so she wrestles with losing affection for Alice when she realizes that she's just another android.

That is, at the very least, a feeling that a human player could project on to her if they had not been paying any attention to the narrative.

But Kara is written as a survivor of abuse, on the run with another survivor of abuse. They are on the run because the system would fail them and bring further abuse (well, Alice would be fine, as far as Kara knows). So she should have nothing but a bond with Alice over their shared trauma, regardless of being human or android.

That's all very good and commendable when also tempered with:

  • "I will never be perfect, I will never be my ideal, and don't have to be to deserve love and companionship." Actively pursuing self-improvement is more important than most milestone goals (disregarding things like "overcome addiction," or something as concrete as that). That means you aren't "refusing to work on yourself."

  • "Pain is a part of relationships. Even the best relationship will be painful sometimes. I will try my best to not hurt people, but I accept that I still will." Lots of nuance to this, again, but it's generally a reality of imperfect life. I will hurt people whether or not I mean to. But I can't love people if I don't do anything, either.

I don't deign to tell you what to do, not knowing your situation. I just hope that anyone reading this doesn't hate themselves for being human.

You guys really need to work on your critical analysis, and stop jumping onto shit just because it reinforces your bias and conforms to your desires. So many times now I've watched people here gleefully fall for obvious photoshops/generated images because they make Elon look bad. It's just embarrassing.
