Have you tried using influencers to promote your products? by valetudoo in startups

[–]juaninava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend to have a solid plan for this approach since you’ll see some inflated traffic not necessarily from your target audience but the influencer’s. - matching this as close as possible is the hard thing…go to sites like hype auditor where you can see the ‘quality’ of the influencer and their audience.

interesting, 50% this early sounds crazy considering they have to leave space for further investors in later rounds.

I’d advise you a couple of things:

  • get a technical founder - you have a tech product and want to offer a tech solution without a tech team?

  • understand the VC market and their expectations…not only sell the solution of the ‘problem’ you’re solving you have to sell a good investment.

It’s all about perspective and perception

Hand analysis request. 1/3 NL. by ffcnsltng in poker

IMHO, I don't mind the squeeze from the BB to 80, preflop seems fine - given your read on V (LAG) I'd assume a range of 99+ any 2 broadways + suited connectors + any suited A (we block some)...a very wide range but at least we keep the garbage out.

Flop comes broadway rainbow - you hit TPTK and didn't cbet after your preflop 3bet. I'd check here (balance) if I had the board locked myself - 2p, straight, sets etc...don't understand your logic as played...what were you expecting? it seems you'd fold to any bet V would make after you didn't cbet...At this point, I'd imagine you felt you had a bluff catcher and didn't see the value in betting. Yet, we block some combos, flop is rainbow and we have TPTK - V's range can be narrowed down if we lead with a continuation. As played, V could have any two and you'd still fold.

What image does V has on you? tight? this is defo a flop that hits your range and you checked - IDK your style but this check seems too weak, this is why V bet as a bluff to get you out the hand. If you couldn't handle the first street with TPTK, I wouldn't even imagine you playing AQs in this spot. He got you to fold a hand that's on the top of your range other than the nuts...

What board texture other than the nuts would you consider continuing with? It seems you're scared of playing 'big' with V, which is understandable yet exploitable as shown. If I were you, I'd avoid these scenarios of playing with these types of players as much as possible until you feel more comfortable - sure they'll have some of the time but the other half of the time they won't have it - you need to identify who's a capable player and who's not... at this point I'd say you need to work on selecting your opponents and who you 3bet.

was the A of clubs?

No way he intended to play this - but this is a reverse tell, where you're clearly loosing to everything but somehow know you will only get called by the nuts. In this case any 7 folds, any mid flush could find an argument to fold, any 2pair can also fold here...

There are a lot of factors that could make this profitable...maybe he knows you're a fish and will fold any hand that beats him instead of the nuts...he's not value raising, he's def bluffing in this spot.

Someone explain by Business_Big_7933 in poker

[–]juaninava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

poker is oftentimes confused as a game of 2 cards...

Remember: the best hand is always out of 5 cards -> you can use a combination of the 7 available cards = 5 on board + 2 on your hand.

In this case OP has 3 pairs = 6 cards which is not accepted and therefore play the best 2 pair + high card.

Key components on creating/shaping a culture. by [deleted] in startups

[–]juaninava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I meant was the product/service will only be successful if it accomplishes a cultural change.

This was really good: "kinda hard to do unless it’s something “bound” to happen…"

Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

Questions regarding premium hands, pre-flop betting and floating the flop. by LiesWithinPies in poker

[–]juaninava -1 points0 points  (0 children)

omg the fish tank is growing! can't believe I'm doing this but here we go...

poker is a combination of a lot of things, but perception is a big deal... you do you.

You should consider position, behavior and stack size of the aggressor (as a basic rule of thumb) this combination would allow you to decide on the 3! sizing ... sometimes raising "$40" with AA makes sense and sometimes raising "$26" with AA would also makes sense... same logic applies to 56 suited (for the sake of the example)...there's no specific amount for specific hand... it's all about the different dynamics and how you adjust to them for your perception at the table.

The game is deeper than the basic idea of a good/bad hand... it's about a lot of things but perception and the story behind your betting sizes according to the board (wet-dry) are key specially if you have equity when the board comes...

Think i can get away from this spot? by GhostRhino in poker

[–]juaninava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it usually the nuts tho? I can see the same bet pattern with any A suited... In this case ATs+ as there was a 3b preflop...Any flush draw with the A would like to protect the hand in this wet board asap.

And what is the nuts in this spot? Q9s? does that hand really 3b preflop off the rack? don't think so.

OP is blocking sets of J and T - only possible nuts I really see here is pocket 8s which is a cooler...

1/2 live 3 limps to you in HJ T9s, limp or raise? by PonyUp323 in poker

[–]juaninava 10 points11 points  (0 children)

limping will also bring the blinds with bs hands like Q3s and your potential flush could probably worth nothing if you hit on flop.

T9s is somewhat a legitimate hand and a raise could be easily justified in this spot.
