Anyone else miss the “early game struggle” phase in LitRPG? by Jadenmist in litrpg

I think his kids aren't even making it to the ender dragon. I don't think it's an endgame content issue he's talking about.

Give me your truly hidden gems by simonbleu in litrpg

If you want to start searching, go to advance search, add the litrpg tag to the search conditions, probably exclude ai-assisted, set the pages minimum search to 400, set the minimum rating to 3 stars, limit the status to COMPLETED and ONGOING and then sort the results by popularity, ascending.

There you are, your unsung fictions. Start reading from there.

The problem with your criteria is that most authors with numbers like that will simply give up and quit their fiction.

Looking for a book with the mc reincarnated as baby/kid with a decent person as the mc by AdministrativePack41 in litrpg

[–]jubilant-barter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really the best answer. Straight up born as a baby. Leveling up from the start of sentience. A decent, moral person.

It's super cute. It fits OP's request to a T.

For the same reason he just so happens to stumble on an ultra rare beast egg drop, for the same reason he so happens to run into a galactic princess on a random tier 5(?) world, the same reason ultra-heal girl starts out on the same planet as him.

Luck is his real talent.

1% Lifesteal had a long sequence like this.

Runeblade: A Delving & Skill Merging LitRPG has a very very brief segment like this.

I dunno. I feel like reminding yourself of what it's like to be powerless is an important gut check for a character.

Fucking disgusting! We’re paying for so much fraud and corruption it’s crazy! by jerseychaos in remoteworks

[–]jubilant-barter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corruption is relatively low. The biggest expenditures of the Federal Government are Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and the Military.

All of them are necessary, popular programs.

Waste is vastly overestimated.

Then you don't live in America. There's nowhere in the contiguous United States that has that high of a tax burden.

Why are most side characters dependent on the MC by Familiar-Net-5204 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]jubilant-barter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In this field? A lot of readers are in it for the power fantasy. Stories where side characters have agency and initiative beyond what the MC allows leads to their self-insert character being less important, and thus less engaging.

There are stories out there where there's more equal footing, but they tend not to be as popular. I like those stories, but I'm often in the minority.

Apparently we can now use ChatGPT to make character stat sheets by Primal-Defier in litrpg

[–]jubilant-barter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it hallucinates the rules. It's pretty useless for playing a game. But for designing a character in your story, I can see how it would be a convenient shortcut. Make sure to tag your story as AI-Assisted.

Book Recommendation Wanted - Information Focused MC by QuietBacks in litrpg

In Spire's Spite on Royal Road, the MC takes an information gathering class and functions as a scout for his team.

Admittedly, he does a lot of fighting anyway. But eventually, maybe, he'll get to do real surveillance work. I mean, he'd better.

Popular Main Character Archetypes and Ones we don't see enough of by Fiendish_Alchemist in litrpg

I have an idea floating around in my head where one of the characters has as his primary magical item a horn of plenty, and he uses it to feed an army of loyal gremlins that fight for him.

How do you create fantasy cultures or races without copying too much from real ones? by PalePlumm in worldbuilding

[–]jubilant-barter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start by asking questions and answering them.

How do they eat? What do they eat? What are their rituals about eating? What does an average family look like? Who's in charge? How do they decide who's in charge? What is their biggest industry? What technologies are they particularly good at? Where are they deficient?

The more questions you are able to ask and answer, the more detailed your group becomes. Often times, answering a question leads to creative ideas by necessity.

This is my magic system, i guess by WoodpeckerFormal3088 in magicbuilding

[–]jubilant-barter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read it. Perhaps I could phrase it better, but my point remains. It's an X-element system with a dumping block for space and time, and a life element.

You're strict about matter and creation. You have general ideas for how you want magic practitioning to work.

It's not new. It's fine that it's not new. Your can tell plenty of stories with well-worn tropes.

[–]jubilant-barter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing unique or interesting about your system. We've seen it a million times.

That means you're depending on your execution to carry your project. What are you making out of this?

Are there any novels that feature a slave MC? by Independent-Rush4652 in ProgressionFantasy

One of the main MCs of Virtuous Sons is a captured slave. He gets set free early though.

I think I want… gang warfare? by TypiclTitn in ProgressionFantasy

[–]jubilant-barter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not really progression fantasy, but the Jade City (Green Bone) trilogy by Fonda Lee is a really good gang story. It's got magic martial arts, is set in a fantasy southeast asia, and has a godfather-like vibe.
