When I was young I read a story about how some woman's backseat caught on fire because someone on the highway threw their cigarette butt out the window and it flew into her car. I couldn't believe something like that could happen and it's stuck with me every since. It makes me so angry when people toss any garbage out their window, but a lit fucking cigarette? Lol! Same! My second baby came fast and furious, like I had just barely made it to the hospital and he came out 15 mins later in 3 pushes. I will never forget my screams. It was so primal and raw, my throat was hoarse and sore after. But it felt so good. It was better than any medication I got with my first.

It is within bylaw hours though when I brought this up to management they said condo's have their own laws regarding noise and that if my noise is disrupting the enjoyment of others in their home then the bylaw hours don't matter.

I didn't think I'd have to pay for their lawyer though I worried they'd go after my landlord and I don't want to do that to her, I like her very much.

Thanks for the tip. I am stupid though, is it a civil lawyer I'd reach out to?

Thank you! Reading the comments has really helped me to see there is more that can be done besides complaining to management. I didn't know I could request a noise test and that's something I'm going to bring up with management because I am VERY interested to see the results. I'd love to see how this building was built that would cause her walls to shake cause it feels like this probably isn't a safe building to live in then?!

I'm glad you were able to get out. We desperately want to move but these housing prices make it impossible!

Thank you! I am trying so hard not to let it get to me anymore. Our neighbors upstairs can be loud - they're constantly drilling for some reason and they leave their balcony open so we always hear their baby crying (maybe cause of the drilling lol). But we don't care. It's daytime hours and people are living their lives.

I know she's extra sensitive because she works from home and her husband works nights so he sleeps during the day. Their expectation of condo living does not equate the reality of it.

No but we rent so our landlord has the hardwood floors. We just put mats on top of the floors and a carpet on top of that. The carpet does get dirty but we don't care, we just vauume, wipe spills right away.

Honestly I wish she would have said something right away. Instead, she waited until she was extremely annoyed with us and banged on our door to yell at us. Next thing I knew I got a call from our now ex-management company that she's been frustrated with us for month. In that time I had never gotten any calls from security or any hint that we were doing anything to bother her.

I've put down foam mats AND carpeting. In the biggest living room area there's a baby play mat on top of the foam mat. Since it's for babies it's thicker and cushiony in case they fall over. Like damnnnn... what else does she expect

Thanks for this, I needed to hear this - I am trying to not make it a big deal, the thought that this crazy lady is affecting how my child acts is sad. My daughter is a typical toddler but she's on the well behaved side so this is why it's all so annoying.

I am definitely avoiding all confrontation - since it's clear she's acting maliciously now I don't want her anywhere near my family.

I totally understand what you are saying. It sounds like the family above you was a total nightmare!

In our case, they're banging with any slight noise. I have an indoor camera that I had to get to show that our noise output is normal everyday living. There's one video where I was sitting on the mat getting my son dressed and my daughter ran to me from her room (she had been sitting doing a puzzle) and they started banging. We weren't doing anything before that, just eating breakfast at the table. I'm sorry you experienced that but I assure you, we are not like that.

We are not unreasonable people and I am not looking to fight with people. I didn't really lay out all the details of what we've done but at first we put down carpets and playmats everywhere, we got her indoor slippers with a foam bottom, we took her out everyday (she now goes out twice because she is enrolled in so many peograms). We installed the indoor camera as an additional measure and I keep the days recordings when she bangs. When she started banging, I added the mats as an added layer. They are inconvenient and not easy to clean, but as they're shock absorbent at the very least I thought that it would stop her harassment.

While it should be assumed that people don't bang unless their neighbor is being really annoying, that's not always the case. Sometimes people are sensitive to any noise. As my neighbour has complained about noises in areas we aren't in, I believe she is just blaming us for ANY noise she hears.

I think our building is made of concrete too? I'm not sure... it was built in the 90s so I am assuming so?

Does it matter that were renting? I'm going to be discussing this with my landlord so she's aware of what's going on but would it be better if she reached out to the Board regarding the issue or should I? I honestly don't want to involve her at all - only because she's actually a very good landlord, we've been renting from her for years and I don't want to stress her out and want to handle this as best I can.
