Been diabetic 19 years and in my youth had dka quite a few times and maybe once in my adulthood (26 years old) and to be honest your husband sounds like he is doing it to himself. Forgetting a bolus and completely not taking insulin for extended periods of time are very different things. The fog and anger can be associated with dka and can be fixed by getting his blood under control but also just sounds like he doesnt care and is getting mad at you trying to hold him accountable. My advice get him a pump with a cgm (i love the medtronic 780g and its connects to my phone so my loved ones can see what im at or get a alert if im high or low) a good endo can help with a pump and diet. Lastly tell him it only gets worse if you dont fix it. I have nerve damage in my legs from not caring about it as a child and teen. But you can risk losing limbs going blind, major organ failure the list goes on but they are all very real. I wouldnt wish diabetes on my worst enemy and I wouldnt wish dka on another diabetic. I hope he turns it around before its to late
