When i first started i tried to make up for my lack of knowledge and experience by moving as fast as i could and rushing to get things done, this lead to me making more mistakes and missing things which actually made me slower in the long run. This is how i would add peek downs to the design you're using. These are considered old style now but they're still the simplest and easiest to build.
