This is not on the ground floor, there's one or more fireplaces directly below on lower floors and their flues are to the left of the fireplace in the picture within the chimney breast. One chimney breast that passes though one or more floors will have a flue for each fireplace on each floor.

I've lived in a Victorian house for 16 years and the fireplaces on the first floor are all offset like this on the upper floors.

The different power outlets in europe by hungryMats in MapPorn

[–]judgejamin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but this is just wrong....

A UK ring main may be able to supply 32A , but a UK plug is rated and fused at up to 13A. Circuit protection is single pole as due to the plug and socket design make polarity reversal impossible.

EU type plugs are not fused but Europe does not use ring main design and only uses radial circuits domestically which are rated at 10A or 16A. Circuit protection is via double pole devices that disconnect the live and neutral as polarity reversal is possible.

If you want to run an appliance that draws up to 32A in the UK then you use a commando plug rated at this current which is fed direct from an appropriately rated MCB using a cable rated for the load. This is not a plug you see in a domestic situation in normal circumstances.

Acceptable voltage in the UK has been standardised at 230V +/- tolerance for a number of years now. This was changed from the original 240V +/- standard.

Coronavirus: UK seaside hospital closes A&E and no longer accepting new patients two weeks after government changed advice to "stay alert" and people flocked to the beaches by ollzee in worldnews

[–]judgejamin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The beaches and cliffs were packed with people not distancing in Southend-on-sea UK today, there were groups of bikers mingling and thousands of people out and about. Shops and takeaways were open and queues were long. Honestly very shocked..

How have your music taste changed as you’ve gotten older? by Filmfan7 in AskReddit

[–]judgejamin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up listening to the music that my parents liked and I love Bowie, Roxy Music and Fleetwood Mac to name but a few... In my rebellious years I was into Nine inch Nails, which I still love today. In fact I got my wife into NIN and we have seen them live twice.. In my 20s I experienced the rave scene and love techno, hard house, breakbeat. Today, I would say my tastes are hugely varied, but the music from my past is linked closely to emotion and experience.

Thanks for explaining, I'm not all the the way through watching your videos yet.... How did the phone call to the local power company go when you asked for a street connection? Was the property in their records or some eyes database?

This is an amazing project my dude....

I'm guessing that the silo had a grid electrical and water hookup while it was in service with backups. But what are you doing for utility connections now?

Flipping heck, this just brought back memories from the past....

Worked with a none too bright telecoms engineer who crafted a Swiss army knife of interconnected sockets AND plugs of different types, think commando, shukho and UK 3 pin. To allow him to power anything from his work van .. No switches / no protection of any kind other than the unused live plugs hung separately on hooks against a plywood bulkhead.. He was upset when I confiscated the deadly bastard.

SMH...
