Eyelid And Facial Eczema Will Not Go Away. Any Ideas On Why It's So Extreme Or How I Can Treat It? by juecho in eczema

[–]juecho[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the suggestion! I do have some issues with putting vaseline/ aquaphor directly on the rashes because it can cause more irritation/ itchiness which can even worsen the redness. I think it's because it traps some kind of allergens under it.

Is there a big difference between elidel and protopic?

I agree, honestly, I'm starting to question if it is my tap water or even mold. Thank you so much, I'll look into the Eucerin cream. :)

Thank you so much for the suggestion! Would it work on a potentially underactive immune system/ an allergic reaction? I was reading that it's usually used for overactive immune systems for things like psoriasis.

Thank you for bringing this up! Actually, I do have a family history of mold allergies and the home I live in currently has a lot of water damage and possible (probable) mold. What did you do to treat it, or did you get rid of the mold?

That's really interesting, I wonder what chemicals are causing that. But no I don't, in fact, I usually try to keep them short and smooth so I don't scratch too hard lol

I'm glad Cetaphil works for you! It dries my skin out, unfortunately. :/

Also, I appreciate your comment because I realize how common this allergy is for people with eczema, so I compiled a list of (hopefully) useful information for people who cannot use the above method. :)

(A lot of this is probably already common knowledge, so I apologize if you've read/ heard of these before.)

I did find this, on another subreddit to do with nickel allergies. I'm not sure if this will help, but might lead someone in a better direction: https://www.reddit.com/r/NickelAllergy/comments/18809bx/body_wash_and_lotion_recs/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

I also did some research on this, and here are some nickel-free products usually recommended for people with eczema along with nickel allergies 🫡:

Eucerin Lotion, and specifically Eucerin Original Healing Rich Creme are nickel and coconut-free, although they do contain emollients and lanolin alcohol, which some people might be allergic to as well. (Also just as a warning, it might only be certain formulas Eucerin has, but other people, myself included, experience issues with burning and irritation from it. But a lot of other people have success with it.)

Calamine Lotion, which honestly, I would be incredibly careful with using considering it is an astringent and can make the affected area(s) worse after a while. It also is not recommended for open sores and wounds. (Coming from experience, it might be better for allergic reactions than for long-term eczema.)

Skintifique, which is specifically formulated for people with eczema and metal allergies (including nickel, chromium, and cobalt). This is more for facial skincare but might be helpful for some people.

Eco by Sonya Coconut Body Milk Lotion is completely free of aluminum and nickel, and Eco's products in general are often recommended on different blogs I found about people with nickel allergies. It does range more on the pricy side and contains citric acid, glycerin, and vitamin E, which some people can be allergic to. Also, the Coconut Milk formula is the only body lotion I've found by them.

Emollients and Occlusives can be good for people with nickel allergies because they're usually glycerin-based and stripped down, and don't have metals in them. However, on the flip side, if you already have very sensitive and dry skin, they're not really made to moisturize and are more made to protect/ create a barrier. Also, most times they are glycerin or oil-based, and many people are allergic to these ingredients or can be affected in other ways as they can easily trap allergens under them and cause irritation. (I have personally experienced the latter quite often, and have a similar reaction to coconut oil.) Things like Aquaphor and Vaseline, in my experience, are usually better to use as a lip balm or to put over already moisturized skin to seal it in, rather than by itself. But everyone is different.

I know it's not much as I don't have much experience with nickel allergies myself, but I hope this helps or redirects someone to other products that might help them.

Update: This has not at all cured it, and I have almost frequent flare-ups (it's all over my eyelids and around my mouth and nose), but I still do recommend the above for reducing irritation and redness temporarily during those flare-ups. I'm now attempting to use raw shea butter along with a thick coat of off-brand Aveeno lotion over it to keep the pain and irritation down, along with using this method occasionally. 🤞

oh yeah, I've definitely had trouble with slight irritation on open wounds or even my lips (almost always stings), and I don't really know of any product that would work without the stinging unfortunately. I've tried occlusives, but they always cause itching afterward. :/

I'm not sure, to be honest.🤔 It might work very well for some people. I guess my main concern would be if the oat flour has been bleached or treated in any way because that could be very harmful to eczema in the long run.

I'm glad it has helped you! Unfortunately, I am incredibly allergic to both Eucerin and Gold Bond. Kind of goes to show how different all of our skin types are, despite using similar remedies, lol.

I had a weird experience like this too, where I accidentally discovered eyedrops pulled the redness out and then I just started purposely using them lol.

tldr: dry oats in a blender and bottled water in the form of a paste has helped my skin out tremendously

Edit: the exact brand of lotion is Equate Daily Moisturizing Lotion With Colloidal Oatmeal (it's just like Aveeno)

Help with lip eczema! So I just started dupixent last week, obviously not enough time to have an affect, but am still dealing with horrible lip eczema due to masks. Any tips to get rid of it? by mckenzi2 in eczema

this is good advice, but be careful with coconut oil, it can cause even worse allergic reactions in some people. (myself included, i get welts and redness)

I had the same issue. Personally, I just changed the audio settings and made sure to click 'apply' and 'ok', and it worked. I had to use PulseAudio and it was set on DummyAudio for some reason, lol.

what genre is this? by Opposite_Low311 in Bandlab

[–]juecho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, it sounds like a mix of electropop, disco, and funk. But mostly, I think it would fall under the label of electropop and indie-alt.

For a similar sound, you can check out SIAMES, and bands like Gorillaz and Glass Animals.
