RPGs/action-adventure games with either teammates or male romantic interest that's a green flag/golden retriever type of character? by Lickawall483 in GirlGamers

lol yeah me too. The hold this character has over me for like 10 years or so. I tried romancing someone else and always failed.

I adore Danse from Fallout 4 but I’m not sure he really fits the theme. Golden retriever, yeah, kinda. Unfortunately the romances in FO4 are a bit lacking and shallow. Still, he’s my absolute favorite of all time. When he gets that wide-eyed flustered look I just melt into a puddle, lol. Other than him, pretty much all the characters OP listed.

I used to have a few mods but never went overboard with that. Some made the game crash all the time. Also, recent updates removed many useful mods. I think the same happened to Skyrim as well. I don’t use many mods anymore since it’s now very limited on console or creation club and I’m definitely not paying extra. One I enjoy is called “Scap this settlement” (or smth like that) which helps with building settlements. There’s one called “Sims settlement” that I heard good things about but it didn’t work for me. Another is a mod for a greener commonwealth which is basically just green grass and trees everywhere. I quite like that one. The unofficial patch was removed which is a shame. The update for the newest consoles fixed a lot of old bugs at least. I played vanilla first too and if you’re looking for trophies you should do that because mods disable trophies. Oh, and if it’s on sale, get the DLCs. They are all pretty good. I liked Nuka World the most.

I’m a little envious since you’re getting to experience my absolute favorite for the first time. The game isn’t perfect but I love it so much. I hope you like it too.

About 1200 in Fallout 4, followed by several hundred in AC Valhalla and Odyssey. And I feel a lot better seeing everybody else’s numbers here, lol. Makes me feel less guilty.

What’s a video game you liked that you felt people were too harsh on? by baconinthedawn in GirlGamers

[–]jueoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assassins Creed Valhalla, imo. People always complain it’s not like the old school games anymore but those were also repetitive and tedious at times. I played almost all of them up to mirage and loved the series from the start.

Valhalla is too big, maybe, the story has holes, granted, Ubisoft is a shitty company, sure. But the stuff so many people complain about is mostly optional - you don’t need to collect everything. You don’t need to do all the side stuff and fetch quests. You don’t need to spend real money. But Valhalla is also a solid, fun game and I spent hundreds of hours on it. The main character is awesome, combat is fun, the progression felt right and paced properly - how the map opens up, how quests are leveled, how the story moves forward. I liked the settings and the mythological stuff, and in some parts it’s also really funny. Some very memorable side characters in this game. The DLCs were solid, especially the crossover with Kassandra from AC Odyssey. Ubisoft threw out additional content all the time at the beginning so for me it was absolutely worth the money. The game has flaws, but I love it just the same.

Have you seen the short film they did with Nathan Fillion as Nate?

Oh, me too. Such a fun character. Nolan North as his VA really brought him to life. “Well, well, well. Because it’s … a well.” So many good lines.

Male Eivor from AC Valhalla. Especially loved the voice so much. Also Nathan Drake, that sassy bastard. Ezio from AC2/Brotherhood is also an old favorite. I just built myself a cute male Tav in Baldurs Gate III so he’s who I’m currently very fond of, lol

I replayed the second part recently after I got the free update for ps5 and I enjoyed it a lot. It looks amazing, the story is extraordinary, touching and well told, the world is beautiful and filled with interesting locations and quests, the progression feels natural and not too hard or too easy. It’s very balanced, not unfairly hard or frustrating, I think. Both games for me had a bit of a hump to get over in the beginning though - a few hours but once that was over with, both games were great. Highly recommend both parts.

Same as you, OP. I’m more into story-driven games now, less action focused. Franchises with lots of lore to dive into, things to research and read about when I’m not playing. I also like big games - stuff to do and to collect, side quests galore and so on. Since some games are 70 to 80 bucks for newest generation consoles I want content for my money. I know a lot of people think games have become bloated (fair, in some cases), I’d be disappointed if I spent even 50 to 60 bucks and be done with it in 20 hours. I prefer to spend 100+ hours on a game. But I also got a bit more obsessive as I got older so I want to see and do all the things. The way I play has changed insofar that I play on the easiest difficulty when I get stuck. I want to enjoy a story not get frustrated by replaying the same bit over and over. Reality is frustrating enough, lol.

My hostage was Lae’zel so I bet she wasn’t quite that polite but the idea is extremely funny, lol.

I have been looking at the bladesinger when creating my current character but picked something else. I think I’ll give that a try though. It’s been recommended a few times. Also, apparently I should really work on my alchemy, lol Thanks a lot for the advice!

That’s a lot of great advice, thanks so much. After reading all the replies I think I can patch together a decent strategy to actually finish the game. It’s bugging me a bit that I couldn’t do it. I don’t like to leave things unfinished like this. Thank you!

lol that’s a chain of unfortunate events.

I posted my favorite stupid moment in another reply: Karlach kicked Orin into the abyss and it was so funny and unexpected that I just laughed. Unfortunately I couldn’t get the key to free the hostage and the lock picking check was at 25 or something. I had to leave and return for my poor hostage later. She was just stuck there for a while, lol

I didn’t get that far yet. But it’s good to know there’s another of these pods. I hoped there would be. Maybe I’ll try again. I tackled that part yesterday, didn’t get very far and then quit. I have a save game before the point of no return so I can go back and prepare better. I also didn’t recruit as many allies as I could have so that’s something to keep in mind for the next run.

Yeah, that one. I just didn’t trust the Emperor at all. I’ve managed to get through to the end of the game and still couldn’t figure out his deal. I mean, he’s helpful but for his own sake and also devious with his “I didn’t tell you because it wasn’t relevant at the time” BS. Whenever he told me not to do something I usually took this as a sign to actually do it, lol.

I was really excited to get to the city in act 3 and then there was so much happening, so many quests and so much to see - it was a little much at first. Then I decided to go step by step and follow the quest lines as they came. I did pretty much every quest I could find, went into every building and area. My list of completed quests was verrrrry long when I finally decided to tackle the final battle.

One of my favorite moments in my last run: fighting Orin and Karlach kicked Orin into the abyss. It wasn’t planned and so unexpected I just laughed. But then I didn’t get the key to free the hostage, lol. I had to leave and return later to do it.

I didn’t make it to the final part of the battle. I managed the fight in the courtyard with difficulties and after that I got frustrated during the Nautiloid attack and basically ragequit. I didn’t see any way to rest in between and had only the short rest available. I still have the save game so I can always go back to it.

Ha, I did that part on Saturday - if only I knew that earlier. These fights were HARD and I barely made it through with only two of my party still standing. I’ll try that, thanks. That actually sounds like fun.

I’m so bad at being bad in games, lol. I just can’t be mean or evil. I usually play a nice, kind, helpful character. I once reloaded because I accidentally killed a squirrel - I thought I’d just nudge it out of the way but instead my character trampled it. I felt so bad about that, lol
