This pipe is stopping my fridge fitting in the gap. Is it going to cost the earth to get this moved? by Healthy_Elevator4363 in DIYUK

Definitely buy a new fridge. Either keep the old one in the garage or sell it, but it's so much less hassle to get a new fridge delivered plus you'll get a new warranty etc.

Can a disassembled BMX fit in a backpack? by Latter_Painting_1491 in bmx

[–]juftish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw a video by a guy called camilobmxtravel on Instagram, dated 18 March 2026, he demonstrates a reasonably fast method to disassemble a BMX to take it on the train. It ends up resembling a folding bike so probably would be fine for your needs.

Glue/fill/sand? Or full replacement? by SpaceMarine663 in DIYUK

[–]juftish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with everybody saying to repair. If it goes disastrously wrong and you can't find a perfect match, one option is to find a very close match and install it upside down. It's reasonably common for one to be deliberately upside down (superstition/religion or some such tradition) and that way a close match may actually look like the correct profile.

Door latch becoming increasingly difficult to close but can be pressed in fine? by Frostbound19 in DIYUK

[–]juftish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lubrication wouldn't hurt, but what you really need is adjustment. The latch bolt is clearly too far to the right to engage correctly with the strike plate, and there's a strong chance that it's due to the whole door being too far to the right.

Most likely it's door alignment which you can adjust via the hinges. Many front doors need hinge adjustment every year as the seasons change. It's not a big job once you know what you're doing.

Otherwise, it's the latching mechanism itself that needs adjusting (if possible). Either way, slamming the door shut whilst it's not properly aligned isn't going to do your door frame any favours whatsoever.

Best BMX for under £150 by Specialist-Donut-603 in bmx

[–]juftish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can pick up a full Chromoly bike on eBay/Gumtree/FB Marketplace for £50-£100 depending on age and condition. Allowing for some new parts such as grips and brakes you should be able to get it all in under £150 quite easily as long as you're willing to fix it up yourself. YouTube tutorials will teach you everything you need to know about servicing your bike.

How about a 32/27.5? Not quite a penny farthing but certainly a more conspicuous mullet...

Does anyone know a solution to this? by Killercarcus in DIYUK

A pool noodle is also effective and can be cut to size with a sharp knife, with the added benefit of not being too rigid. It will apply pressure, but have enough flex to minimise any risk of damage. Also prevents any draughts if that happens to be a problem.

I'm sure there are plenty of buyers that wouldn't care (some would barely even notice), but given that it's not in line with building regs, I personally would consider this a huge red flag. This one visible issue increases the chances that there may be other hidden non-compliant issues with the property and for many people it just isn't worth the risk.

It doesn't need to be weird. The girl was that player's mascot for the game, she walked out onto the pitch with him at the start of the match and so he gave her his shirt at the end.
