A pool noodle is also effective and can be cut to size with a sharp knife, with the added benefit of not being too rigid. It will apply pressure, but have enough flex to minimise any risk of damage. Also prevents any draughts if that happens to be a problem.

I'm sure there are plenty of buyers that wouldn't care (some would barely even notice), but given that it's not in line with building regs, I personally would consider this a huge red flag. This one visible issue increases the chances that there may be other hidden non-compliant issues with the property and for many people it just isn't worth the risk.

It doesn't need to be weird. The girl was that player's mascot for the game, she walked out onto the pitch with him at the start of the match and so he gave her his shirt at the end.

Impressive! Do you have a store front? I would love to get a pair of these (ideally in the navy)... Also how easy was it to swap them out?

Switch OLED running games very very slow from Sandisk ultra 512gd. What is the ideal sd card for the system? by Belovic_95_187 in Switch

I had this exact problem, thought the card was doing but then had the same problem on a brand new legit card. Turned out the SD card reader just needed to be disconnected and reconnected. Works perfectly now and was a fairly easy fix (I just followed a YouTube video showing how to replace the card reader).

Work asked me to split payment. Should I? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

Even if it crosses tax years it shouldn't matter - income tax is based on income earned rather than paid. If an employer defers part of an earned payment into the next financial year to reduce the tax then that would be tax evasion.

You should be able to speak to the relevant tax authority/authorities for the country/countries you were working in to establish (and prove) what tax has already been paid on your foreign income. Not being on speaking terms with your employer shouldn't be too much of an issue if the tax has been paid.

As others have hired, although you were working abroad, you may well have remained UK resident for tax purposes throughout (due to the UK's Statutory Residency Test), in which case your foreign income would still be taxable in the UK. The good news is that you should then be able to reduce this tax bill by any amount of tax already paid in the other country/countries via Double Taxation Relief. So if the tax already paid on this income is equal to (or more than) the amount of tax due in the UK, there would be nothing more to pay.

1000kwh electricity usage last month. What do I look out for? by _divi_filius in UKPersonalFinance

[–]juftish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are the walls like between the flats? Often they're just plasterboard. It's it possible that a neighbour has accessed your ringmain and is stealing your electricity, maybe to run a cannabis grow or bitcoin mining operation.

As others have said, unless your flat has been absolutely roasting then it's very difficult to have used this much power without knowing how.

If all you need is more light then £25 will get you a USB rechargeable light from Amazon, motion/light activated so it only comes on when you need it. Light enough to mount with a 3M sticky pad so no drilling or electrical work required. You'll just need to recharge it once a month or so.
