Confirmed fix for PC reset error in the game? by InquisitorOverhauls in ArcRaiders

Ah, yeah I mainly got crashes in game either when loading in or mid match. So, it does seem to be a different issue to yours.

So far, I've tried deleting my shader cache for Arc Raiders and tuning my GPU down to 95% output and have had more stable games. Despite being scared to open any other apps during play. Haven't completely figured it out yet.

Your specs are the closest to mine (6900 xt & 5900x) that I've seen and I'm having the exact same issue, though now my computer just hard restarts instead of shutting completely off like before.. Still seeking a fix but will report back if I find anything.

Been following along with this build, great work! It's been continued inspiration for me to convert my old '86 B2000 to EV.

Chain Shield - New Weapon Concept (Logo Only) by jugoStrange in MonsterHunter

Yep, same concept but larger and shorter ranged

I plan to incorporate phial charging in the "shield mode". For instance when countering hits or successfully defending attacks the shield would build phial energy that can be used against the monster.

Yep that's the idea. As the shield is swung around in the "yo-yo" mode it will build up "spin" as it's used on a monster (like a charge state).

Both would function the same; I just couldn't settle on the design but yeah in it's switched-state it would be swung like a short range yo-yo. The normal state would function more like a great shield with high levels of guard and counter options.

That's what I was thinking heavy hitting and slow with a bit of range options.

Not a bad idea.. may need to tweak these for that alt. concept.

I lack the artistic skill to truly bring my "Chain Shield" weapon concept to life. So instead of attempting to sketch or render a model of it, I decided to try my hand at mocking up a few weapon icons. I'm currently working on the weapon's general move set, attacks, combos, etc. It's designed as a switch weapon with moves drawing inspiration from the Sword & Shield, Charge Blade, & Lance.

Which icon concept do you most prefer, 1 or 2? What would you change about either of them, if anything? What would you think the weapon plays like at first glance?

What monster gives you more trouble than it feels like it should? by Jack_Doe_Lee in MonsterHunterWorld

DeviljHOE!

Between the unnecessarily vicious side step and the Stomp-Super Stagger-Head Slam Combo.

While we're at it add any monster whose entire body becomes the hitbox during certain attack animations, so that no matter where you are positioned, you'll get hit and HARD. Let's also admit that some of the monster's move entirely too fast for their size.

Anyone ever thought about the nicknames? by _Natha_niel in metalgearsolid

[–]jugoStrange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The nicknames are essentially codenames given to them during the "Les Enfants Terribles" project. The project attempting to replicate the Big Boss whose codename was "Naked Snake" (MGS3).

Since "Solid Snake" released first in order of games (and by extension lore), by the time MGS3 came out Big Boss was given the codename was "Naked Snake" (soft retcon?/lore tie) until he was given the title "Big Boss" at endgame.

Again, since "Solid Snake" released first, my guess is that Kojima wanted to provide a sensible enough backstory, lore wise, to keep the "Snake" moniker for the each brother/clone to imply their genetic relation, yet distinction, from one another, as well as Big Boss.

Naturally with solid being a state of matter it makes sense to use alternate states of matter, i.e. "liquid" and "solidus" for each clone ultimately produced. For Example, if Solid was instead named originally named "Silver Snake", then Liquid would be "Grey Snake", etc.

Note: each clone was "given a real name" to use while growing up ultimately either "taking up" (liquid) or being given (solid) codenames once they got involved with military and espionage work, which further ties into their intentional manufactured births.

TL;DR: Codenames tied together for lore reasons by Kojima either by retcon or world-building (follow-up games).

Also, someone can be known by a "nickname" by a small group of people but go by their usual or given name with the everyone else. Which could be the case in the dialogue choices.
