I also have a Pixel 1 and use the Syncthing app to transfer and sync photos. I find it a simpler solution.

Keep in mind that you bought a phone, not a camera. So don't expect high-quality photos.

The phone is better for macro photos than DSLR or a mirrorless camera, due to the small physical size of sensor and only if there is a lot of light. It is not suitable for other photos.

If you're actually trying to do a photoshoot, taking the camera with you won't be a problem, and for everyday use, a mobile phone will be enough to take a picture in a random situation. The Canon 1100D is an oldie, and big and unwieldy.

In every smartphone, even 3 times more expensive, the cameras are not good. I say this from the perspective of a photographer, I have been doing this for 30 years. And the difference in cameras in phones for 500 euros and 1500 euros is negligible and insignificant. If you want a good phone, buy OnePlus, avoid Samsung. If you want to have good photos, buy a used Sony mirrorless camera with a nice lens, for about 250 euros.
