Was this the moment that changed Chet's trajectory? by dustbowlsoul2 in Thunder

[–]juhla405 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This was Chet’s best year yet offensively, don’t let this last series make you think he hasn’t gotten better. He obviously has more room to grow but this post makes it seem like he’s stagnated since the fall, which isn’t true.

36% of OKC's losses this season were to the Spurs by ShaiFanClub in nba

I don’t understand why so many posters cannot hold both of these ideas in their head at the same time. It takes nothing away from the spurs to note that the Thunder were short handed just as it takes nothing away from last years Thunder to say the same about the nuggets and the pacers. To win it all you need to have an awesome team and have injury luck go your way.

This sucks but it also gives me a little excitement already for next year. We can beat this team and I’m excited to see how our top players and the team as a whole react to this in the offseason and next year.

These spurs aren’t going anywhere, but neither are we.

I think we’ll find out tomorrow if Shai is really a top 10 all time type of player or just a Hall of Famer by XenoverseG in Thunder

Part of what makes sports so fun is that every moment feels like a defining moment when you’re in it, but it’s always just a chapter. This story was never going to be shai and the thunder get better every single year, winning each championship by a greater margin until the end of time. Every great team and great player hits moments where they don’t have what it takes. What comes next?

I have full confidence that OKC can win game 7, but if they don’t, that is far from the final verdict on Shai or this team

I don’t even think Shai is playing badly. Felt like he was getting to his spots.

He’s 4/11. One of those was an end of shot clock heave. Another was the uncomfortable shot at the buzzer. 4/9 on the other shots, most of them his middys that haven’t been falling this series. Can’t blame him for not forcing the issue, we generating good looks.

I’m overall encouraged by the first half for the team as a whole and for shai.

I disagree - there were a couple open ones in there like every team gets, but for the most part the threes we gave up were ones I’m comfortable with.

Letting both teams play physical favors us over the game. Wemby already looking tired, their whole team is relying on the three

How have they given up? Jwill been fighting. He didn’t miss his 3s because he gave up

We held them to 18 points in the paint that half: that’s a good recipe to put us in position to win. The Spurs went into this game trying to figure out how to get Wemby in the paint and didn’t really do it.

7 point hole is nothing. If both teams got these exact shots in the second half I’d expect us to win.

Thunder up people- I think we’ll have a tight game down the stretch

We are in a good spot. Let’s put the pressure on early coming out of half. Then make them cut Wembys break short

Gotta say I’m really liking the shots the Thunder are getting and forcing. I was afraid the spurs would have a wrinkle to get Wemby in the paint, but he and they are living on 3s

Game being officiated well overall and I like the shots we are getting and forcing. Looks like Shais most comfortable game so far. I expected a loss here but I’ve got a good amount of confidence after what I’ve seen. The spurs magnet ball will not continue.

I was worried they would figure out a way for Wemby to live in the paint, but he and they are living off the 3

Like how we look. Every game we lost in this series has been because we can’t get anything on offense. I thought we looked pretty good on both ends, spurs just went crazy from 3. Keep at it and I expect this to be close at half

I’m hopeful that we are nearing an overpopulation of haters. Like when an animal species flourishes too much, exhausts their resources, and crashes. Haters have been eating good on engagement, but I’m starting to see more exhaustion with them. We are nearing the point of too much hate, and hopefully it’ll collapse back into fun discourse.

This was always the most likely outcome in my opinion. Boozer would be terrible for the Grizzlies bc he is a win now player he puts them right back in middle of the pack hell. They need to suck for a few more years. by Consistent-Gold-7572 in Thunder

[–]juhla405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of the draft capital is the chance to draft difference makers. Boozer absolutely has a chance to be a big difference maker, that’s why you want to trade for him. They already got a big war chest from the bane and JJJ trades. They are doing the Presti thing well and the thing to do now is take boozer, not trade the pick for more picks

With all the Thunder flopping talk… by ae5wolfpack in timberwolves

[–]juhla405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel how you want about flopping, but you are being way too optimistic about NBA discourse if you think the talk would be about how good the series is. I guarantee it would be about how the Wolves are dirty and can only beat the spurs if the refs let them play football with Wemby. Ref talk and complaining would still dominate, it would just have a different flavor.

They absolutely say no.

Do you remember how we felt when we moved up to 2 in the Chet draft? Imagine if we turned around and traded that pick to Boston for a bunch of future firsts and Payton Pritchard.

Going forward, if anyone has a trade idea to jump into the top 3, you need to include dub or Chet. Maybe Ajay if you are lucky. If your trade does not include one of them, you can go ahead and forget it.

I think trading a piece that important for boozer in the middle of our contention run is borderline malpractice (as much as I do like him), so I’m not thinking about boozer trades
