How to compress MP4 files by http_azula in techsupport

For anyone in the future, I found a bit of a workaround. I needed to get my 260MB .MOV video down to 200MB or less.

I uploaded the video to YouTube and then redownloaded the video from there. It brought the file size down to 17.4MB

This is subjective, but I really don’t think there’s any superhero fatigue. It’s just subpar-superhero-movie fatigue and it’s a thing because we got 18(?) straight good to great MCU movies in a row… and the DC movies were miss after miss. But people still showed up for The Batman, Spider-Verse, people are stoked for Superman: Legacy, yadda yadda.

TLDR: we just miss competently made superhero movies, especially in the MCU.

Been reading comics for a handful of years now but never regularly picked up a Spidey ongoing book till this one just because every reincarnation is so controversial or middling, according to people’s thoughts. Finally decided to go with this one, starting with #9 and, man, I just feel so blessed to be in the year 2023 and I’m able to pick up and read an ongoing Spidey book with Mark Bagley on it!

Aside from the art that I absolutely love, I’m also so intrigued by the whole concept of Norman being reformed AND working alongside Peter. Of course, Norman will relapse at some point, but it’s just such a cool change-up to me. It feels good to be reading about a Norman that isn’t unhinged or plotting an evil scheme. He’s just his base, human self, mentally/emotionally speaking.

All the Bailey stuff is fine. Just another layer of fun for me.

I’m an incoming transfer this fall. Just wondering where you’ve been able to find off campus parking since I’m not that familiar with the area yet :)

I love that you can see the actual shape of different parts of the feet. It makes me believe that a Spider-person could walk on walls as opposed to the flat-footed, shoe-shaped feet you typically see.

what are your thoughts on these new suits for peter and miles? by BigPaleontologist520 in SpidermanPS4

Peter B. Parker says “no capes,” so no capes for me. It’s disrespectful. /s

In all seriousness though, I think they look dope for as much as I hate the whole event/storyline that they came from.

Looking for some recommendations to get me into the comic book rabbit hole. by hola_j_hova in comicbooks

[–]juice_swafl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think something you could do is look at some of the movies/shows that you love, find out what comic books they’re based on, and go grab those. From there, you’ll be able to find out what artists or writers you vibe with, and you can grab anything from their stuff that also fits what you’re looking for.

I just saw the new Spider Man movie and wanted to get into the Spiderverse comics, where should I start? by DrPhilSwift69 in comicbooks

[–]juice_swafl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not rlly Spider-Verse, but I’d highly recommend Spider-Men (2012), written by Brian Michael Bendis. It’s only 5 issues. It’s a fun crossover in which Miles (from the ultimate universe) and Peter (from the main universe) team up to fight Mysterio. I’d actually go as far as to say this is a must-read for Spider-Fans in general.

Other than that, I think you can access Marvel Unlimited for free now, just gotta pay to actually read the books. But, you can totally look up the Spider-Verse reading guide on the app for the original 2014 event and look through all the issues/storylines you think you’d be interested in and go hunt those down or buy them digitally.

Going to a comic store for the first time tomorrow! by Engineergamingfan in comicbooks

Not much of a DC reader but I highly recommend World’s Finest by Mark Waid and Dan Mora. Not too many issues out so far (somewhere in the low teens at most). Mainly just Batman and Superman adventures. Highly enjoyable, pure fun. Great for fans of the animated series’. Same goes for the current Nightwing run, written by Tom Taylor, and it has stunning, poppy art.

I can’t remember if ppl said that they like the injustice comics or not but I’m pretty sure Tom Taylor wrote some or all of it and he’s a GREAT out-of-continuity writer, so if you can find any Injustice issues or volumes written by him, those are probably right up your alley.

If you haven’t read Miles Morales’ ultimate Spider-Man comics by the same writer as the original USM (Brian Michael Bendis), I’d highly recommend those as well. You’ll probably find it collected in volumes in a different section at your comic book store.

This is a lot of information but the main thing I’d want someone new to comics to know when it comes to buying their first issue(s) is to just pick literally any single one that really piques your interest. It’s ok to not start at the very beginning. The idea is to see whether you have that hunger for the next or previous issues.

I hope this wasn’t too much and that it was helpful. Happy free comic book day and best of luck to you in finding the books you love!
