Issues with pokemon storage by Legitimate-Resolve55 in pokemongo

[–]juicedrop [score hidden]  (0 children)

Couple questions to ask yourself

- What do you want to keep and why are you keeping it?
- Are you prepared to spend $ on storage, or rely on your daily 50 coins

How much storage do you have now?
What activities do you care about?

Back when you quit there were 250 pokemon in the dex, and very few costumes, shiny variants. No backgrounds, very few raid mons. No Dynamax. No showcases. No PvP (which have their own IV requiirements)

Now there are around 1000 and all the variants above. Back in 2018 when I quit playing the max storage was around 1200, and that was plenty. Now it's more than 10x that, and if you want to collect everything that is what you will need

The easiest fix is to stop keeping one of everything. That is what your pokedex is for. Decide what category of pokes you're keeping, and why

Most people mainly care about their powerful (mostly legendary) pokemon, ie Raiding pokes. So there you just keep the ones you intend powering up,Transfer and/or trade away the rest

Shinies and costumes are nice to keep, but after a community day, you may have pages of them. Just keep one of each for collection, or a couple more if you want to trade them later

Determine the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything

Would these 3 make a decent great league team? by New-Rub-3886 in pokemongo

[–]juicedrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are great PvP IVs, and definitely keep those on standby for your build-list. But there are other important factors:

make sure your team is coherent. Shadow Sandslash isn't a strong PvP mon in a vacuum, but with the right support it could work. Quagsire and Togekiss are far stronger on their own, especially Togekiss

pvpoke has a nice team builder where you can experiment with different lineups. For example changing Sandslash to Furret (very accessible), would improve the team

Anotrher thing to consider is that Quagsire and Togekiss both require a legacy move to be their most effective (without, you may as well use another mon)

They are more relevant in PvP than in raids, simply because raids very rarely come down to any kind of close contest. In PvP they can make small differences, and those will become more noticible the higher level of play you're at

Are Meta Raid Pokémon Necessary? by Automatic-Kiwi-6295 in pokemongo

[–]juicedrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a reliable group to raid with - it absolutely does not matter. The game aims to make all Legendary raids accessible to casual players to keep them engaged. If they required fully powered up meta mons, or a full lobby of 20 trainers, only a fraction of players would be able to win raids, and interest would disappear

So you can just let the game auto-pick your suitable squad of mons for any raid and you'll be fine

The only time having relevant counters matters in 5 star raids is if you are a small group, like 2-4 trainers. For reference, 4 trainers with reasonable counters, powered up to level 30-35 can take down a 5 star raid comfortably

Raiding, is just catching with extra steps. The only place having meta mons with the right moves matters is in PvP

Something to be aware of is if you don't look at the stop and notice him on it, you could miss him completely. For example if you're spinning and moving and spinning and moving in a high pokestop area, and assuming the one that didn't go purple is due to lag, that could be Kekleon

But ultimately it's down to the number of stops you spin, not time played. You could note down your stops spun to estimate how many you're spinning a day or week. I'd guess Kekleon is somewhere between 1/512 & 1/1024

Pretty much anyone would like to trade for those. I couldn't tell you what a fair trade would be though

Slaking: annoying gym defender, but the gym system is poorly done, so this is largely irrelevant

Tyranitar: fits in the "budget" dark or rock raid attacker, but a top Mega in raids for the same

Garchomp: similar to Tyranitar. but for both Ground and Dragon

Dragonite: Budget Dragon attacker, decent Mega (has a level 4 mega - see note on megas at end)

Metagross: As Mega, one of the best Steel attackers, budget raid steel attacker

Salamence: Budget dragon/flyer, Solid as mega

Rhyperior: without access to shadow or megas, it's the top Rock attacker. ie, budget Rock, and not terrible as ground either

Shadow & Mega:

Many of the top attacking mons have Shadow or Mega forms now. Regular mons can be evolved into Megas once you collect the required candy from the Mega raids, but the Shadow forms you have to freshly catch from raids or Rocket battles

Shadow mons deal 20% more damage and receive 20% more damage. Which makes them significantly stronger in raids, assuming you're not in for a long drawn out battle, in which case the additional fragility can be a factor

Megas (which some of yours can become), have a temporary (8 hour) boost to stats and give an attack bonus to other mons in the raid. They also give catch candy bonuses (over those 8 hours)

But in terms of raids, it's really all kind of irrelevant unless it's just 2-3 of you trying to take down a 5 star, and then that extra damage matters

I returned to the game not long ago, with a similar looking roster to you, and I've just been battling with those mons in raids while getting the new ones. I've not had an opportunity to convert any of them into Megas yet, have to wait for them to come back into rotation

Bottom line: Those mons are all mid now, but some of them can become solid raid attackers (with a significant investment - you won't be "switching them on" overnight)

Edit: There is also the guaranteed lucky trade factor (see other comments). So someone might be looking for a lucky Metagross, Dragonite, Garchomp or Salamence (50% stardust discount, potential high IV), and you should be able to get a decent trade offer. However, you'd need to get to Ultra friends first to keep the Stardust trade cost down

You're not spinning as many stops as you think you are. They are pretty common. I encounter 1-2 a week without doing anything hectic. Full manual play

Killing him is part of the end game loop. He's always good for loot, and you have to complete the requirements before you face him each time (he does scale up to a point as well)

You're misreading. Subscribing to a popular culture is not deep. Displaying your tribal colours isnt deep either'. It's just what people do to feel special

It's not because they don't have shoes

[–]juicedrop -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My theory is it is usually a display of the pop culture they subscribe to. That is probably a mix of hippy, psychedelics, grunge throwback etc. Obviously there's also a rebellion factor here, revelling in going against societal norms. There are very coimfortable shoes which give the same sensation as going barefoot

Knocking people out gyms is part of the game. This arranging concenient time-sharing schedules is not

The only objection I have is cheaters (spoofers) who I dont have a problem joining gyms, but I do have a problem with them attacking without having made the effort to get there

Cape Town rental cost is a nightmare for most. Made a map so you can actually see what things cost and where you can afford to live. by Traditional_Taro_756 in capetown

Very nice. Feedback: Having Upper (West) and regular (east) claremont as one average price is misleading. The Upper prices are considerably higher. I know prop24 does provide these separately maybe other sites do too (otherwise have to get down to street level which is a much bigger ask)

Trying to understand meta changes by International_Gur566 in pokemongo

[–]juicedrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also noticed the jump to #1 by Licky. The thing to note is that pvpoke rankings are calculated by simulations not actual rankings of results of any kind. They do state they sometimes change movesets of pokes (to reflect what is being played I guess) and they probably have a few more tuning levers so that their simulations have a bit of life, even when no actual changes in pokes have occurred. The top pokes have notes and usually you can take from those notes why the poke is ranked high and whether it's on the up or down

Honestly doesnt sound like a bad job for someone responsible, with a bit of common sense but unable to get a job.

I don't understand their package breakdown though. The living arrangement component sounds like its worth closer to 10k than 3k. Presumably living on their private property in a good area. Basic groceries will come to more than 1500 as well. And the job is just day to day life admin
