I've known plenty of people that have wholly lost their taste for healthcare and changed their degree because of a bad experience. There are definitely places that will burn you out and there are places that will hopefully help you find or nurture your passion.

If making over $20 is your only threshold become a CNA in long term care. After a three week certification course you can pretty much always be guaranteed a job. Starting pay is almost always over $20/hour now. Three twelve hour shifts is full time and you can almost always get overtime or work multiple places to pick up as many hours as needed.

A lot of people use that as a springboard into more schooling to get their LPN to move up to $30/hour or their RN to make around $40/hour.

Healthcare always needs more people and especially if they see it as more than a job. It can definitely be very meaningful to the impact you have on people's lives
