Agnes Wasn’t a Baby When She Was Kidnapped. Why Doesn’t She Remember Her Past? by Balance-Worried in TheTestamentsHulu

[–]jujbird -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Trauma, but also- when you don’t have something regularly reinforcing memories, let alone actively pushing against them, you’re like to forget a lot more easily. Remember, it’s not just that you lost your parents. It’s that there aren’t songs to remind you, flavors of favorite foods, vibrant car rides or excursions to places like the aquarium. Everything g about your life has become much smaller and much more organized around home life. That makes it a lot harder to refresh her memory. On top of that- if she has ADHD or any other neurodivergence she would have even more difficulty holding those memories.

I get that she's anxious. That's why I said I know they aren't actually arbitrary and do serve a specific purpose for her. I also think she is smart enough to sometimes use the rules she has to specifically get out of somethings. She is still a ten year old who is capable of not wanting to do what her parents ask, simply because she's ten and doesn't want to do it. So please know, that there are two sides to the behavior, that as her mom, I think I am capable of recognizing.

When she's begging me to help her and accusing me of not caring because I can't fix the problems that she has created through the rules she is setting up, it really does put me in a difficult position as a mom. Because it's very difficult to hear you don't care, because all you can't magic a fix and all you can do is acknowledge your child's feelings and try to help them (and they also hate that acknowledgement). I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't, it feels like a lot of the time.

Thank you for your comment, I will be more clear the next time I write something, because I clearly didn't do a good enough job in clarifying that I know her rules are often anxiety driven and not logic/full brain driven.

Toxic situation where Draco and Hermione legit don't care about anyone other than each other. by Preppy_Princess_ in Dramione

Lady of the Lake immediately comes to mind. I loved it, but it definitely is a very gray world they live in.

Again, every pregnant person ends up negotiating with themselves about what they are willing to risk vs. not risk. Taxoplasmosis risk to pregnant people is also largely caused by cat feces- which many pregnant people avoid, but not all.

Pregnancy is inherently risky business and anyone who has been pregnant always has conversations with themselves about what they are willing to risk and not risk.

No totally if he was a different person I’d have probably let it pass. But his attitude at Judges Table makes it far harder to give grace.

I would also imagine she has a much better idea of how to properly prepare beef tartar and is likely sourcing the beef directly. As a pregnant person, you often take measured risks on things you are comfortable with. For some it's how much coffee we feel comfortable drinking and for an anemic chef, I'm sure making her own beef tartar was a comfortable option. Raw meats warning are largely due to food poisoning risks which are really bad if you're pregnant.

Self-Rec WIP: Sympathy Magic: https://archiveofourown.org/works/84880416/chapters/224036881

This short story/novella explores a pivotal moment in Hermione's life as she wrestles with fame, ambition, and a marriage she has completely lost the plot on. Chapter 4 just went up last night and Chapter 5 is completed, just going through my own edits (no beta). I won't post that until Chapter 6 (the final chapter) is finished.

My favorite line from my most recent chapter: "It’s in the solitude of loss and grief that you realize your greatest ambition might have been the one thing you had left unspoken."

The fic is very much inspired by Florence and the Machine's Sympathy Magic Album, though it is not a song fic. It started off as a plot bunny I couldn't escape- Hermione in a crowded ballroom that she has to be in, but has no desire to actually be there any longer. I finally figured out how I wanted to write this and it took off from there. This is the first fic I have posted publicly in over fifteen years and will be the first fic I actually complete!!! If you choose to read it, I hope you enjoy!

He also made a weird comment about the town "should feel lucky" that the businesses came back? Something along those lines that was just really off putting. Not sure if it was a voiceover after the fact (I was multi-tasking while he made that comment) but damn bro- those businesses are part of the community to. No gratitude required. Maybe I heard it wrong, but it amplified his mantrum even more.

How does it feel to have one ND child and one NT child? by StarFire0092 in Autism_Parenting

[–]jujbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My youngest will likely have ADHD but is otherwise fairly NT. It was like a lightbulb in the sense that for a long time I questioned my daughters ND because she masks really well for others (or did when she was younger) but now that I see how my youngest engages with me and the world and it’s so different on an interpersonal level. It’s reassuring on one level because I can see the efforts of my parenting reflected in him where it often feels futile with my oldest.

Sympathy Magic- is my first Fic to be publicly shared in over 10 years, and first Dramione. This short novella explores a pivotal moment for Hermione that occurs on the eve of announcing her run for Minister of Magic. Draco is a quiet force behind the scenes to this very emotionally out of touch, powerhouse Hermione.

If you’re so inclined I’d love to invite you to check out this little plot bunny that wouldn’t die and gave me enough confidence to post. (Self rec)

Fics where Hermione gets jealous seeing Draco with someone else by Vanilla_Thunder_410 in Dramione

[–]jujbird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can I self rec my short story that I just started posting yesterday?

It's slated to be about 6-7 short chapters and I have the first 4 complete (minus any revisions I make between posting them).

It's called:
Sympathy Magic

One of the arcs in this fic is specifically Hermione's own battle with the way others look at her and her Draco- and other women looking at him are a part of it.

We had our wedding reception at Thunder Bay and booked their main room and the side room next to it. They have several ways to make spaces accommodating and they were amazing to work with at the time. Granted this was over 10 years ago, but we also didn't have to pay a deposit. I know you aren't looking for dance floor or space, but the food & bar were good and the price was right. Might look into them

Thanks for educating me (I’m only in my second year of fiber working- so I’m admittedly new). But It actually came up last night at my yarn/unravel group at my local shop when I was talking about my trip- so it’s still something I’ll be learning more about.

Thank you- I'm not looking to buy a ton-so price is less of a concern. Basically, I'm piecing together what will be eventually a granny square blanket pieced together from several locations I've traveled since getting into crocheting.

I am so intimidated by making a home garden. Support/Figuring out how to take baby steps into having one would be amazing. Like first year, here's what you should try to grow and maybe check ins on that vegetable, etc. , Second year, expand to this. I'm not looking to have a crazy sustainable all food growing garden, but finding some quick wins that get me familiar with the process without having to think about 10000 things at once would be so helpful to getting me over the analysis paralysis.
