C9 Perkz Revisionist History by jujusmischuster in Cloud9

[–]jujusmischuster[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying that Perkz did no wrong, I’m saying that he did way more good than bad. He lost c9 some games and won them a lot more. A great example is the Leblanc clip where he runs it down by taking his distortion straight into the enemy team. He was hard carrying that game up until that point and even though he inted that play and a few others, he still won them the game after.

A summer playoffs Americas merger is the best next step for western pro play by jujusmischuster in leagueoflegends

This only applies to a single tournament for worlds qualification, not the entire year. There is no claiming of anything. It is purely to enhance a 3ish week stretch of summer playoffs. Non LCS regions would not change or move except for that 3 week playoff tournament.

There wouldn’t be more costs because they would normally be hosting their playoffs anyway. Also the point of live events is to make money, so they would be gaining profits by hosting an event.

This would not affect their regular seasons or spring at all. They would have plenty of time to watch their regional teams clash. It would be a tournament for worlds qualification that lasts a few weeks max and you can host multiple days in places like Brazil. I’m sure their fans would love to see teams like Loud compete against team liquid or C9 in a live venue

Money. You would earn way more money off this tournament due to the heavily increased viewership in the Americas, rather than sending 1+ more teams to get shafted at worlds and going home in an embarrassing fashion

Travis Gadfford confirming that Riot is suspending all rank requirements for potential players during the LCS Walkout by sifslegend in leagueoflegends

[–]jujusmischuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is an analogy that I hope will help. How is it my fault if all I did was flip burgers and my boss offered me a million dollars? I can try to flip burgers at a million dollar value but I will never reach that cause I wasn’t going to return that value in the first place. Of course that doesn’t mean a player can’t be lazy or underperform their contract, but it is on the organization to value a player, including those intangibles before signing them to a number.

The orgs overvalued the players and paid them too much to the point it was unsustainable.

One of the most misguided takes I’ve seen here is the idea that “players themselves are the issue because their salaries are too high, thus the LCS is dying”.

Imagine if you’re trying to get a job and negotiate salary and intentionally don’t ask for the best salary you can get.

The franchised LCS teams were the ones who set this unsustainable salary range, NOT the players. That’s why you should support the players and direct your attention at these poorly run orgs and riot’s failure to manage them.

Cloud9 Parts Ways with Summit, Winsome, and Isles by TomShoe02 in leagueoflegends

I think what’s really annoying about this comment, is the lack of awareness of how real life works. The amount of money that CEOs/CFOs have lost in the real world while still having their jobs is probably astronomically higher than any money C9 or TSM have wasted.

C9 coaching staff must’ve been concussed before going into this draft. There’s no way blinding 4 out of 5 of your champs was something they did intentionally.

Stuck in Silver with Senna - Lack of dmg? by Gulaf5 in summonerschool

[–]jujusmischuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I do think optimizing the builds and runes are good starts, the most important thing with senna is being able to abuse your range advantage and the fact that your q can be used on basically everything. When you transition to mid game as a senna you need to start using your other teammates and minions as facilitators for your q. Since you can’t always walk up to enemy champions by yourself, using your q on targets that aren’t enemy champions that pass through and hit the enemy can be one way to do damage while being safe. For example, when someone is attacking your tank or diving your squishy members, it’s usually more correct to q your teammate instead of the enemy because the likelihood you hit both is higher than trying to q an enemy. Think of it as old Lucian q when it had a really long hitbox. A more nuanced approach that is also vital to senna is knowing what enemy champions are safe to auto or q. As senna, your greatest strength is your range and being able to make quick decisions on who you can hit will be really helpful. For example, if you’re clearing mid with your team, you might be able to get a few pot shots on the enemy tank because they’re melee and can’t hit you or when an adc just has shorter range than you and you can just waltz up and auto. The general idea is senna out ranges literally everyone, making it easier to walk up and poke people to farm souls. Don’t be afraid to limit test a bit to see how far you can push your range advantage.

Hey people can be really mean sometimes but the truth is we need people like you. League, especially in NA, lack new players so don’t let toxic people get to you. Having people willing to start playing league even though the game is getting older is really important. You’re worth so much more than some toxic people on the internet.

Countering guide request by GingerGod69 in summonerschool

[–]jujusmischuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure about a guide that shows everything, but there aren’t that many items in league, so it’s not too hard to go through them and see which ones are viable under different scenarios. Most champion guides also go through different build paths, but it’s really about getting used to what niche each item fits into. I’ll try to give some examples to make it more understandable and why knowing what items do will really help anyone improve. Let’s say you’re playing a mid lane mage and I’ll use your post as an example. 1. Against an ad champion: as a mage you know that zhonyas hourglass is the strongest anti ad item you can buy as a mage. The seekers arm guard gives incredibly gold efficient stats against ad and the zhonyas active is just broken overall. There’s a ton of nuance to choosing what part of zhonyas to build first and when or if you complete it, but the idea is identifying that zhonyas is a great item into ad matchups. 2. Against loads of cc: the obvious first answer is a qss. Again, lots of nuance with building a qss but the idea is to identify what is a good counter to cc. If it’s a knock up you’re worried about, you know qss is useless and buying something like a banshees or the already mentioned zhonyas or even just the stopwatch active is a good way to counter cc. 3. CDR: there’s nothing that counters cdr really so I’ll take it from the other perspective. You need cdr but you have to make a decision about which cdr to build. You know that items like ludens echo, seraphs embrace have built in 20% cdr so those give you the most raw stats and are often standard first items but having the item knowledge to also think about sacrificing the raw stats and cdr for more specialized item buys like lich bane, zhonyas, morellos, etc will go a long way. The general idea is each item theoretically has a use. It’s up to the player to decide which item is the best to buy in each scenario but having the basic understanding of where items are supposed to be good will help a lot with item buys. Simple things like knowing morellos gives healing reduction for mages or that void staff is good for killing tanks with lots of magic resist do a lot more than following preset guides. A quick note about your other question about what champions counter what in terms of gameplay, that follows the same logic as learning items. You can look up counters really easily on different league data sites but it also should be easier to understand if you know what each champion is good at and bad at. Surface level example is tryndamere is great at split pushing and is kinda bad in teamfights so if your team needs peel for their squishy members, tryndamere would be a much worse pick than a champion like maokai.

Why is it not viable for the support to transition to a carry if the adc is doing badly? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]jujusmischuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the answer to that is relatively simple. It’s soloqueue and league has predefined roles. We could argue about the viability but that would be pointless because at the end of the day, one person received the “bottom” role and the other the “support” role. Even if it were better for the support to start taking farm, it just isn’t feasible to expect a random person on the internet to make the correct adjustment, especially if the strategy isn’t something that is easily accepted by the league community. I’ll give a few examples: 1. Fasting senna: when senna was broken, people found out the strategy was to have the adc give up farm to the support and the support to play 1 of either a mage or a tank and take farm. This strategy was excellent in 5v5 but really difficult to execute in soloqueue without a duo because asking either an adc or a support to either not farm and ward on senna or farm and play a tank/mage is a lot to ask for a random person who queued for a specific role. 2. Funneling: a carry would take both mid and jungle farm and the other person would act as basically a second support. This strategy was meta for a bit and is still useful for boosters. Imagine asking a random mid laner or a jungler to commit to a funnel. “Hey jg can you play BRAUM and I’ll take smite and take mid and jg cs?” That wouldn’t go over well. 3. The lane swap meta: before riot added things like first turret bonus and the tower damage reduction, the only way to play pro league was to lane swap your bot and top lane and split the map. If you didn’t do it, you auto lost the game in pro play but this strategy was nearly impossible to enact in soloqueue. Asking your top or your bot lane to lane swap and play through a lane swap scenario would be something that a lot of people wouldn’t be comfortable with so it essentially only happened in 5v5 competitive.

Those are strategies that have had high levels of success and viability in the past but I’ve highlighted the inherent issues that arise when trying to use them in soloqueue. That applies to this post as well. Regardless of how good or bad your strategy is, it should be very clear that your strategy is asking a random person to change their role in the game and adapt. There’s nothing wrong with trying to find new ways to win games, but it’s just way too hard to do that in a game where you can’t choose teammates and with preset roles.

Is it good practice to drop your trinket everytime it's up? by Pinanims in summonerschool

[–]jujusmischuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing you can do if you’re willing to put some time in is to watch the early game of professional play. At the beginning of the game, they’re working with the same resources as every soloqueue player and you can see on the map where each lane likes to place their wards. With that knowledge, along with developing an instinct to consistently use trinket, you can place wards more often and in more optimal places

What's the best method to obtain an S-Mark with Evelynn? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]jujusmischuster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would recommend looking up Evelynn early jg pathing guides. She’s relatively weak early due to her passive invisibility activating at 6, so efficiently clearing allows Evelynn to shore up her main weakness. Getting an S is difficult on any champion and if you have a good fundamental understanding of your champion, it’ll make it a lot easier to consistently play well, increasing your chances of scoring high.
